The new visual identity of the town and municipality of Ożarów refers to tradition in a modern way. The symbol, developed by Proszki studio, will be used on all promotional and administrative materials. The new logo refers to the history of the region.
Until now, the main graphic element in all communication channels has been the coat of arms. Officials are not abandoning the coat of arms, but want it to be used only during ceremonies and to commemorate important anniversaries. In this way, they want to ensure its seriousness and prominence. The new logo is intended to make it easier to broadcast the symbol promoting the city on social media, for example. When viewed on a small phone screen, the sign should be clearly visible.
We want to decisively separate the role of the coat of arms and the promotional sign. We give respect and dignity to the coat of arms by using it in formal situations, while the promotional sign of the Town and Municipality of Ożarów will now function in the area of promotion and marketing of Ożarów,” informs the city.
The new visual identity is based on three pillars: the crown, the memory and the initials of Ożarów’s name. The crown is an element of the new logo and a symbolic reference to Ożarów’s Rawicz coat of arms, as well as to the legend of the princess Klotilda and the granting of town rights by King Sigismund II Augustus. Of the 50 towns in the Świętokrzyskie region, only seven have a crown in their coat of arms, which is why it was used in the new graphic. The memorial element is intended to pay tribute to the places and history of the region, taking into account the three former towns – communal villages and settlements: Lasocin, Janików and Gliniany, which were founded in the 16th century and significantly influenced the development of the region. The last element is the initial of Ożarów’s name, which refers to the seal of the town of Kazimierz, today’s district of Krakow, and the monogram of King Sigismund II August, who granted Ożarów town rights in 1569.
The new graphic symbol is based on geometry and modern, legible lettering. The minimalist symbol is highly visual and can be successfully used on a variety of media. The bright graphics look good on a variety of colours, but the city points out that it wants to base it on colours referring to the Świętokrzyskie costumes described by ethnographer Janusz Kamocki and to local products such as Wiśnia Nadwiślanka or flint colours.
