For years, spring has served as a catalyst for spring cleaning. Many of us feel a strong urge at this time of year to tidy up our surroundings. Research by Versuni confirms this intuitive feeling: over 70 per cent of people say that as the seasons change, they make changes to their surroundings or their habits. Washing windows, sorting through wardrobes, getting rid of unwanted items or giving the floors a thorough clean – whilst these tasks aren’t exactly pleasant, they do provide a sense of satisfaction. The Philips OneUp electric mop was created to make cleaning easier. Its compact size means it doesn’t take up valuable space.
Shoe marks in the hall, kitchen chaos after a quick cook, water splashed about in a hurry in the bathroom, or dog paw prints after returning from a walk – these are minor situations which, amidst the rush of daily duties, can effectively undo the effort put into spring cleaning. Young parents, in particular, know just how challenging it is to keep things tidy. It is precisely in these everyday moments that the need arises for tools that don’t require setting aside time for cleaning, don’t take up the whole afternoon, and don’t force you to drag a bucket out of the cupboard.
The new Philips OneUp electric mop meets these needs. Its design is based on patented technology that separates clean and dirty water. As it works, the device spreads fresh water across the floor whilst simultaneously sucking up the dirty water, preventing any smearing. This solution, though simple in concept, significantly changes the way floors are cleaned: there is no longer any need to return to the bucket, rinse the mop or wonder whether the water is still clean enough. Two separate tanks ensure a hygienic process, and the task itself becomes less of a chore.
The cordless design means you can reach for it at any time, without having to set up the whole cleaning ‘setup’ – pulling the bucket out of the cupboard, pouring in detergent and water. In practice, this means that a quick floor clean after cooking or upon returning home no longer requires you to rearrange your daily schedule. The 360° swivel joint makes it easy to manoeuvre between furniture, and the lightweight design allows you to reach places where a traditional mop usually struggles with the layout of the room. Importantly, the floor dries faster (by up to half the time) because the device uses less water than traditional methods.

The Philips OneUp is available in two versions, which differ in operating time and adjustment options. The 3000 series runs for up to 50 minutes on a single charge, which is sufficient for daily cleaning. The 5000 series offers up to 70 minutes of runtime and two water flow settings, allowing you to adjust the cleaning intensity to suit the type of dirt. Both models are equipped with universal mop pads designed for hard surfaces, including delicate and non-absorbent ones. The set also includes a concentrated liquid, with one bottle replacing three standard detergents.
A new feature is the range of additional pads designed for specific floor types. The version for wood, laminate, vinyl and parquet uses microfibre, which cleans effectively without damaging the surface structure. The pad for tiles, stoneware and stone tackles tougher dirt, including dried-on stains. All pads can be machine-washed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and reused repeatedly for up to six months, which reduces waste and minimises the need for frequent purchases of accessories.

Spring is a time for change, but it is our daily habits that determine whether tidiness will stay with us for the long term. When cleaning ceases to be a logistical undertaking and becomes a quick task carried out in passing, it is easier to maintain not only cleanliness but also that sense of lightness that so often accompanies a spring reset.
