Pole at the top of the fashion world. Krzysztof Łukasik the new Design Director at Chanel!

This is a landmark moment for Polish fashion. Krzysztof Łukasik has become the new Design Director at Chanel. Such news does not come along every day – a Polish designer has taken up one of the most prestigious positions in the fashion industry, writing a new chapter in the history of the legendary French fashion house.

Who is Krzysztof Łukasik?

Before becoming the new Design Director at Chanel, Krzysztof Lukasik gradually began to gain recognition in the fashion industry. Born in Warsaw, he gained experience working for houses such as Hermès, Maison Margiela, Loewe, Diesel, Lanvin, Victoria Beckham and Byredo. His greatest acclaim, however, came with his work at Bottega Veneta, where he served as design director for almost five years. It was there that he worked with Matthieu Blazy – now one of Chanel’s most important figures – which probably influenced his transfer to the Parisian brand.

What does this mean for the brand?

Pole taking on the role of Design Director at Chanel is not only a prestigious promotion. It is also a signal that the brand plans to open up to new perspectives. Krzysztof Łukasik is known for his minimalist aesthetic, sense of detail and ability to reinterpret classic forms in a fresh way. His perspective can give Chanel’s iconic designs a new dimension – without losing their heritage.

Krzysztof Lukasik will work directly with Matthieu Blazy, which means even more consistency in Chanel’s artistic and strategic direction.

The news that a Pole has become the new Design Director at Chanel immediately resonated with the national and international media. In the fashion industry, this is a real earthquake – not only because of the prestige of the position, but also because of the symbolic value of this promotion.

Polish designers are increasingly daring to break onto the world stage, but it is Łukasik who has managed to win one of the most important titles in the history of Polish fashion design. Although we will have to wait a while longer for specific collections, the industry is already speculating that Chanel under Łukasik may undergo an aesthetic evolution. We can expect more architectural forms, a subdued colour palette and an intelligent fusion of classic and modern – just as the designer has done at previous fashion houses.

Don’t let the editor’s profile picture fool you. Nobody hacked our website! The LEGO brand encouraged us to celebrate Children’s Day in a unique way. We changed the profile pictures of our editors, taking us back to the blissful time of childhood 😊. The cursor in the desktop version, which turned into a LEGO block for a few days, is also a variety. This version of the website will accompany us until 1 June. This year, on the occasion of Children’s Day, the LEGO brand prepared a special action with the Slowhop platform, as part of which it filled 21 houses across Poland with LEGO bricks sets and gave those willing to participate the opportunity to spend a weekend of creative play in them. We wrote more about this action HERE and HERE.

PS and if you are looking for an idea for a LEGO set for creative play then check out our suggestions HERE. These are good gift ideas, not just for Children’s Day!
