Polish design at the Łódź Design Festival. Idea>Form>Brand exhibition

The Łódź Design Festival, which for the nineteenth time has become one of the most important events in the Polish cultural and design space, this year presents a unique exhibition entitled Idea>Form>Brand. The exhibition can be seen within the historic walls of the historic Karol Scheibler Power Plant, in the Fusion complex. The exhibition combines the individual perspective of the artists with a broad view of contemporary challenges – both local and global.

The Idea>Form>Brand exhibition does not focus on the creative process, but presents its effect – ready-made objects of contemporary Polish design, which are already functioning on the market or are at the stage of implementation. The exhibition shows products that carry specific values, a well-thought-out form and a unique way of communication. Each of the presented projects is not only a response to contemporary needs, but also the beginning of building a recognisable brand, rooted locally, while operating in a broader, global context.

Features of Polish design

The curators of the exhibition, Bogusława Bronowicka and Michał Piernikowski, emphasise that Łódź Design Festival has been trying to capture the specificity of the Polish creative industry market for years. “We observe recurring material strategies, approaches to functionality, references to tradition and sensitivity to changing social, environmental and economic conditions. From these observations, an image of the Polish design brand as conscious, flexible and responsible emerges,” says Michał Piernikowski, festival director.

The exhibition emphasises that Polish design is not only about the aesthetics of objects, but above all a well-thought-out strategy that combines craftsmanship with modern technology and creates a space for dialogue between tradition and innovation.

A place that breathes history

The exhibition’s location within the historic walls of the former Karol Scheibler Power Plant gives the exhibition a unique atmosphere. The building, which is part of Echo Investment’s Fusion project, transforms the site of the former factory into a multifunctional complex. Fusion not only brings the historic buildings back to life, but also becomes a modern cultural, entertainment and business centre, combining the heritage of Łódź with the needs of the modern city.

At the exhibition, viewers have the opportunity to see how contemporary designs, based on solid material and conceptual values, can respond to the changing conditions of our environment. The objects on display are proof that design is not just about aesthetics. By combining elements of tradition with modernity, the designs are part of a broad discourse on building brand identities, while responding to the real needs of the audience.

The Idea>Form>Brand exhibition is open to visitors free of charge. The exhibition is open until 3 June, with weekdays from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information on the exhibition : https://lodzdesign.com/wydarzenia/idea-forma-marka.
