The former Fair Administration building is located at 14 Głogowska Street in Poznań. Its roof was destroyed during World War II and has not been reconstructed. This condition will soon change.
The building of the former Fair Administration will function as the headquarters of the Music School Complex in Poznań. At the end of 2024, an agreement was signed between the Complex of Music Schools in Poznań and the Poznań International Fair to acquire the historic Fair Administration Building for the benefit of the State Treasury for use as the headquarters of the Complex of Schools, which is run by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. In total, the Complex consists of four music schools: the K. Kurpiński State Music School of the First Degree, the Fryderyk Chopin State Music School of the Second Degree, the Czesław Niemen Police Singing School and the Jadwiga Kaliszewska Second Degree Music School of the Second Degree, commonly referred to as the “Poznań Talent School”.
The new premises in the historic 1925 building are intended to make the place a vibrant cultural centre. The building will undergo extensive revitalisation and be adapted to the needs of an art school.
The concept is to separate the functions of the various spaces in the building. In addition, a concert hall will be created in the main auditorium, which is also to be made available to other entities. The conservation officer was consulted on the design of the changes.
Among other things, the redevelopment concept envisages the restoration of the building’s original facade and roof. Architectural details will be restored. Importantly, a section of the rear of the building, which is sometimes referred to as the Belvedere, will also undergo renovation. This section will become a concert hall with an area of 250 square metres and a height of 7 metres. For the time being, the date for the start of work on the roof of the historic building is unknown.
