From the beginning, Ola and Paweł had a clear vision of their new flat – it was to be colourful, unpretentious and functional. Thanks to their long-standing acquaintance with Agata Ambrożewska, co-founder of the A A studio in Warsaw, they could count on professional support in selecting the premises and its arrangement. They consulted with her about various possibilities during the search phase and finally decided on a modern building in one of the quiet streets of Grochów. Although they did not initially consider a ground-floor flat, the two backyard gardens, ideal for their dog Cukinia, made them change their minds. Their dwelling can be described in two words: colourful minimalism.
Thoughtful changes to the interior layout of the flat
Before giving the interior a unique happy modern feel, some functional modifications were necessary. One of the key challenges was to find a way to store things conveniently and to reorganise the living area, which initially did not meet the residents’ expectations. In the end, a radical but successful solution was decided upon: the kitchen and the relaxation area were swapped. This enabled space to be created for a small, but practical kitchen island, which has become the focal point of the flat. In addition, a capacious library was created for the owners’ books and CD collection.
Colourful minimalism full of energy
The colour scheme of the interior was chosen after long discussions and numerous shade tests. Although the flat is full of colours, the overall look is harmonious and not overwhelming. Guests often remark on how well the colours reflect Ola and Paul’s personalities. An interesting eye-catching element is the retro wall in the bathroom – the combination of textural glass in a metal frame gives the room a statement. And don’t overlook the intricate carpentry details of the island, which are the pride of both the owners and the architects.

The result – an ideal place to live
The project proceeded in an excellent atmosphere, and complete trust in the architects allowed for efficient and creative action. As a result, Ola and Paweł received a space perfectly tailored to their needs, and their flat became a perfect example of how functionality and colourful minimalism can harmoniously coexist.
