Product Designer – the new standard in premium investment design

Monika Kulpa-Miros, Development Director at SGI, shared her vision and the importance of the role of Product Wizard – a position that sets new standards for customer service in the development industry. It is the Product Creators who ensure that each SGI development stands out not only in terms of aesthetics, but also in terms of functionality, responding to the needs of the most demanding customers. In an interview with Monika Kulpa-Miros, we find out how the work of Product Creators translates into the success of an investment and the image of SGI as an innovation leader. SGI is a well-established Warsaw developer with more than 20 years of experience, specialising in the development of flats and houses in the premium segment. To date, the company has completed more than 50 projects in 7 Polish cities.

SGI is a property development company whose mission is to enhance the quality of living spaces. By focusing on the best architecture, pioneering technological solutions and the highest quality of materials and workmanship, it sets a new dimension in the implementation of house, flat and condo projects. However, in order for this to happen and for the investment to be carried out at the highest level from the planning process through to completion and sale, there needs to be a person in charge of the process – a Product Designer. What is he responsible for and what is his role at SGI?

Monika Kulpa-Miros: Creating high quality living spaces is the mission that defines SGI’s activities. In order to fully realise this idea, we have introduced the role of Product Designer in our company. People in this position are responsible for the comprehensive management of the design and realisation process of an investment – from searching for the best architectural and technological solutions, through taking care of the highest quality of materials, to the precise fine-tuning of details. Thanks to their commitment, each SGI project meets the highest quality standards, fully meeting the expectations of our investors.

The Product Designer, as the name suggests, creates the vision of the product. How does his work differ from the typical tasks of an architect or interior designer?

Monika Kulpa-Miros: At SGI, each development project is based on the cooperation of two key roles played by architects: Project Coordinator and Product Designer. The Project Coordinators focus on the technical and administrative aspect of the investment – from the management of formal and legal documentation, through administrative processes, to the coordination of interprofessional activities, ensuring the project is consistent and compliant. Product Creators, on the other hand, are responsible for creating a vision of the space, with aesthetics and functionality as priorities. Their work differs from the typical tasks of an architect or interior designer, as it involves not only design, but also the implementation of new material solutions and in-depth analysis of details. Product Designers combine design with functionality. In this way, we set new standards in the industry.

The main task of the specialist is therefore to create a vision that is designed to make the project stand out in the market and at the same time respond to the needs of today’s residents. How does SGI combine these two aspects?

Monika Kulpa-Miros: The role of Product Designer at SGI goes far beyond the standard competences of an architect. It requires not only an exceptional aesthetic sense and a passion for design, but also keeping up to date with the latest technological and material trends. A key element of this role is the ability to empathise with the needs of the future occupants of the development. The Product Designer does not create spaces solely for their visual appeal or personal satisfaction – they must design spaces that are both beautiful and functional. Combining aesthetics with practicality is the biggest challenge, but also the most important aspect of the role.

How does the work of a product creator translate into the end result of an investment?

Monika Kulpa-Miros: The process of creating an investment, from the selection of materials to the design of amenities, is in the hands of the Product Creators. During the design process, we visit trade fairs, showrooms, test samples and carefully analyse the different product variants and solutions. This allows us to consciously select elements that not only meet the needs of future residents, but also give the investment a unique character and coherence. It is these decisions that make the final result appealing and meet the expectations of the residents.

What challenges does the product creator face? What do they pay most attention to?

Monika Kulpa-Miros: The biggest challenge for Product Creators is finding a balance between aesthetics and functionality. As architects, they are often tempted to focus on the visual aspect of a project, but their role requires them to create spaces that are stunning in design yet practical for everyday use.

One of the standards of premium construction is innovation. What solutions are Product Creators at SGI reaching for?

Monika Kulpa-Miros: Innovation by its very nature carries a certain amount of risk – it is often not fully tested and its long-term effects can be difficult to predict. At SGI, we focus on solutions that will stand the test of time, creating investments that are universal and timeless. When we innovate, we carry out detailed analysis, research and vet suppliers to ensure that the technologies used are sustainable and not a temporary trend.

Among the solutions implemented are smart home systems based on KNX technology, recuperation, heat pumps or photovoltaic installations. In our residential projects, Product Wizards also takes care to add valuable amenities such as fitness zones, gyms, residents’ clubs and electric vehicle charging stations to enhance the functionality of the space.
