Promenade in Wladyslawowo: elegance and rhythm by the Baltic Sea

Władysławowo has been attracting tourists for years with the colourful summer life and bustle of a seaside resort. In this environment, an investment has emerged that attracts attention from the outset, although not through obtrusive forms or spectacular solutions. Promenada Apartamenty & SPA, designed by Piotr Kowalczyk of ARCHMONDO studio, shows that architecture on the Polish Baltic coast can be both restrained and expressive, and that its strength can lie in simplicity.

Promenade in Władysławowo: subtle composition and calmness of form

The new aparthotel stands near the Avenue of the Stars of Sport, a popular promenade leading towards the beach. It was here, five minutes’ walk from the sea, that the project was realised, which quickly became the subject of much conversation. The developer’s aim was to create a space for relaxation and, at the same time, to respond to the architectural disorder characteristic of Polish seaside towns. The architects opted for a light and calm body, whose strengths are rhythmic divisions, large glazing and a limited material palette. The white facades and transparent balustrades create an atmosphere reminiscent of a seaside sanatorium and relaxation.

The three-storey building is based on a rectangular ground plan, but its visual lightness is emphasised by the horizontal lines of the balconies that wrap around the block and the metal pergola on the roof. The author’s design of the balconies strikes a balance between the individuality of the individual parts and the harmonious whole. Repeated vertical divisions appear on the façade, façade panels, balustrades and interior elements, giving the building a consistent rhythm. Geometry is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also provides order to the structure of the entire building.

New apartment building on the Baltic Sea coast

Covering an area of more than 2,100 square metres, 26 flats have been created, designed with families in mind. The interiors, also designed by the ARCHMONDO studio, are kept in bright colours. The geometry and minimalism of the façades are also reflected inside the building. The building also offers a relaxation area for adults and a children’s play area, allowing visitors of all ages to make the most of the space.

The Promenade and its architecture in dialogue with the surroundings

The building’s surroundings were designed by the topoScape studio. The greenery inspired by coastal dunes, with a predominance of grasses and plants characteristic of the Baltic, fits well with the character of the site. Wood reminiscent of that found on the beach further emphasises the proximity to the sea.

The promenade does not compete with its surroundings, but brings order and tranquillity to them. The interest it arouses among passers-by shows that architecture, even on a small scale, can attract attention and evoke emotion. The project is an example of how a responsible approach to form and function can make a building stand out in public space and become an aesthetic landmark in the landscape of a seaside town.
