The City of Poznań has started the long-awaited reconstruction of Sienkiewicza Street, from Reja Street to Kochanowskiego Street. The works are aimed not only at improving the road infrastructure, but also at increasing the amount of greenery and creating a more orderly public space, which will improve the quality of life for residents.
The investment includes the transformation of a more than 100-metre stretch of street, which until now has been dominated by spaces unused by pedestrians and drivers. These areas will be redeveloped and turned into green squares. A key element of the project is the transformation of an asphalt square of more than 100 square metres, located between Kochanowskiego and Gajowa Streets, into a modern square with small architecture that will be a new attraction for the local community.

The plantings include the planting of three majestic plane trees, around 300 shrubs, almost 400 perennials and ornamental grasses, as well as more than 2,000 bulbous plants. To make it easier for visually impaired people to get around, textured mats will be installed at pedestrian crossings.
In parallel with the greening of the street, the investment also includes the replacement of the road surface. This will improve driving comfort as well as pedestrian safety, which is one of the priorities of this project. In addition, the new greenery elements are expected to improve rainwater retention and create a better microclimate in Sienkiewicza Street.
Construction work is scheduled to be completed on 9 October, while the greenery planting is to be completed by mid-November. The total cost of the investment is close to PLN 900,000. The project is being financed thanks to budget amendments by city councillors and the support of the Jeżyce Housing Estate Council.
