Developer BBI Development has announced that it has signed an important agreement with the Pro Bonum Foundation, set up by the Archdiocese of Warsaw. The cooperation concerns the construction of the 170-metre Roma Tower skyscraper to be built on a church plot at the junction of Nowogrodzka and Emilia Plater streets. The new building will enrich the Warsaw skyline and become one of the most important dominants in the very centre of the capital.
One of the key elements of the agreement is the construction of a new vicarage for the Roman Catholic parish of St Barbara in Warsaw. As BBI Development stressed in its stock exchange announcement, the erection of the new parish building was an important condition for the church party to proceed with the project. Technical issues, on the other hand, required that some work on the vicarage be completed before the construction of the high-rise building could begin.

The commitment to finance the new vicarage stems from the investment agreement signed back in December 2011, which stipulated that BBI Development would be responsible for this element of the project. The current agreement specifies the details of the construction financing, in which the developer is to participate up to the amount of PLN 10.7 million. Work on the vicarage is already underway, with the building shell planned to be reached within 18 months. As part of the signed agreement, the parties also agreed to update an earlier investment agreement from 2011. The changes are intended to adapt the provisions to the current legal situation and the status of the Roma Tower project.

According to the investor’s assurances, the new office building is to meet all the conditions of the highest “A” class while its usable area will exceed 55,000 square metres. The skyscraper will contain offices, retail space, a fitness centre, a spa and a conference room. The project has been approved by the provincial conservator of monuments and has also received the approval of Pope Francis in 2022.
The signed agreement is another step in the realisation of the project, which has the potential to become a new symbol of Warsaw’s city centre.
