This 61-square-metre flat in Warsaw, designed by the estimental studio, is an example of a bold and attractive colour scheme. The bespoke design was created in collaboration with Michalina – a designer and the founder of the MAU.MAU brand – resulting in an interior that combines artisanal attention to detail with personal touches, creating a cohesive, intimate living space.
Even the hallway of this flat reveals its artistic character. Wavy frames around the surf blue doors soften the geometric structure and lend the space a sculptural tone. The mirrors have been placed deliberately – each reflects a different part of the interior, introducing a shifting interplay of perspectives and deepening the impression of multi-layered depth.
The interior is based on carefully selected materials and products. The Bubblegum ceramic wall light from Nodi Studio and the plywood sockets and switches from Switch Concept introduce subtle accents of texture and colour. Many elements were made to order, ensuring that every detail has its place in the composition and function.
The kitchen consistently develops the surf blue theme, which is the dominant colour throughout the flat. The simple cabinet fronts are complemented by sculptural handles from Hvyt, whilst the Avant Quartz worktop in the Aquitaine shade harmonises with the splashback finished with Equipe tiles from the La Riviera Blanc collection. The cut-out in the tile splashback lends the kitchen a sense of lightness and emphasises its compositional character. The SMEG coffee machine has been chosen in a shade matching the owner’s favourite colour, adding a personal, everyday touch.
The bedroom is a separate chapter in the narrative – here, the Playful style manifests itself through stucco, rosettes and a bespoke headboard. Surf blue is paired with deep burgundy and delicate pink, giving the room a warm, intimate feel. The composition of colours and textures creates a mood without unnecessary ornamentation, focusing on a mature, well-considered aesthetic.
The flat features artefacts brought back from travels – a print of Mount Fuji from Japan or ceramic figurines from Thailand. These objects serve more than just a decorative function; they are a record of experiences and memories that naturally blend into the design, enriching it with a layer of personal narrative.
The bathroom has been designed with intimacy and soft lighting in mind; the warm, deep colours used here echo the bedroom’s palette, creating a tranquil zone. Kamil’s study operates by its own rules: dark green and cherry wood create a space for concentration. Hanging above the desk is the owner’s favourite bicycle, giving the study a personal, unique touch.
The estimental design for Michalina and Kamil is an example of an interior where aesthetics, function and personal stories harmonise. Numerous bespoke elements, subtle accents and deliberate colour combinations ensure the flat functions as a cohesive whole – well-thought-out, authentic and tailored to the lifestyle of its inhabitants.
