SELLO. New jewellery collection from ORSKA

Amber took shape some 40 million years ago, accumulating traces of the life of that time. As a result, inclusions reminiscent of a world that has passed away can be found in its most precious specimens. If gold stones formed today, what would nature preserve for the ages? In her latest jewellery collection Sello, designer Anna Orska attempts to find an answer to this question.

A MESSAGE WRITTEN IN AMBER

When there were no bottles and letters could not be sent in them, Mother Nature encapsulated her message in amber. Millions of years later, the plastic bottle itself is becoming a message – and not a very optimistic one. Climate change is making us wonder ever more loudly: what footprints will humanity leave behind? What will we imprint on nature? The Sello (Spanish for seal) jewellery collection is an attempt to look into the future. Orska has turned gold, brass and Polish amber on the jeweller’s table into geometric forms and modern designs. And where amber allows you to see through, she has placed important symbols. As a result, it is not only engraved plants and insects that attract attention in the Sello collection, but also… contemporary symbols of human presence.

TRACES OF NATURE, TRACES OF THE FUTURE

The author’s stamps make their mark on the carefully selected, partially transparent amber, like man on nature. Vegetal inclusions and inclusions of the future: nails, nuts, fragments of integrated circuits present a vision of the future, in which homo sapiens leaves behind not beautiful nature, but a mass of infamous artefacts. Prophecy or warning? The Sello collection reminds us that our fate is still not sealed. For a while yet, we still have a say in how our future unfolds. The handmade jewellery provokes reflection on man’s impact on the Earth. The footprints of nature versus the footprints of humanity: will they work together or cause dissonance?

GEOMETRIC JEWELLERY IN THE STYLE OF ART. DÉCO

The jewellery has been handmade. Transparent Polish amber was carefully selected and polished in a family workshop on the Vistula Spit. The gold-plated settings and author’s stamps were created in the ORSKA workshop. Openwork, light forms in the shape of circles, squares and rectangles have a forged surface, contrasted with elements in a satin finish. Jewellery in the Art Déco style, in keeping with the spirit of this direction, is characterised by perfect workmanship and a geometrised, synthetic form.

ORSKA

ORSKA creates jewellery with character, her designs are expressive and often controversial. The rawness of the forms, the roughness of the textures and the different idea behind each collection reflect the temperament of the brand. ORSKA jewellery is not an accessory. It creates a creation in itself. Anna Orska’s specific design is for daring people looking for an original form of style. Each piece has an individual character. This is due to the handmade workmanship and the use of peculiar, often unique materials. The components come from different parts of the world and from different eras, just like the concept of the collection itself. ORSKA is rebellious, diverse and unpredictable. She is not afraid of experimentation. She is constantly searching. This is one thing that remains constant about her.
