The single-family house in Zborow, located right on the shores of Lake Niepruszewskie, has become a private haven for a young, professionally active couple with a child. Their shared passion is travelling, flying small planes and road cycling. This unique location inspired the project, the main idea of which was to capture the atmosphere of freedom and holiday relaxation.
Architecture inspired by the ‘lightness’
When discussing the character of the interiors, a key idea resounded – lightness. This became the leitmotif, alluding to both the owners’ aviation passions and the subtle elements of nature – swaying reeds, warm breezes and tranquil hues of the landscape. Thoughtful, minimalist forms and natural materials dominate all spaces.
A new chapter for an existing building
The single-family house in Zborow was purchased fully finished, but its original layout – spacious and open, but non-functional – did not meet the needs of the new family. The previous solutions, although visually attractive, did not provide privacy and acoustic comfort. A completely new functional concept had to be developed and extensive building changes had to be carried out.
The heart of the home – the living area
The ground floor features interconnected spaces: a vestibule, kitchen, dining room with fireplace and a spacious living room. Everything was designed to take advantage of the views of the garden and the lake, accessible through large sliding windows. Thanks to the thoughtful framing of the surroundings, users can experience the changing panoramas of nature at the rhythm of the day.
Single-family house in Zborow – style and functionality
The focal point of the dining room has become a large white table, over which the Lumina DOT designer luminaires have been suspended – light, almost floating in the air. In the background, the raw texture of the graphite granite fireplace appears, juxtaposed with the subtle, white wall units. The living room, on the other hand, is furnished sparingly – the furniture was chosen so as not to disturb the sense of space and tranquillity.
A place of rest and passion
The living area is divided into a relaxation area and a passion zone. Instead of a garage, there is a glass showcase through which one can watch the sunrise and sunset. In addition to a comfortable sofa, there is space for bicycles, books and travel souvenirs, displayed on light steel shelves – symbols of the ‘lightness’ concept.

Summer living under a cloud
Adjacent to the living room, the huge terrace functions as a summer living room – a space for cooking, dining and relaxing. This is where the owners and their guests spend their summer evenings, admiring the sunsets and recuperating after an active day.
Privacy on the first floor
On the first floor of the single-family house in Zborow, a private area has been planned – bedrooms, bathrooms, a laundry room and a study. The owners’ master bedroom has been designed as a separate suite with a dressing room and a bath room, preserving the east-west viewing axis. As a result, the interiors are bathed in natural light throughout the day.
Interiors full of harmony
A consistent, neutral colour palette is used throughout – warm white, oak veneer, natural fabrics. Contrasting accents are the dark finishes in the bathrooms – graphite tiles and intense floral patterns bring visual balance. The soft carpeting in the bedrooms gives the interiors a cosy feel and promotes tranquillity.
Studio overlooking the forest
The work space was located in a lowered height area with a large window framing the forest. The uniform white colour scheme and minimalist furnishings create a cocoon conducive to concentration. The desk and bookcases create a harmonious, functional whole.
Single-family house in Zborow – architecture with soul
The impression of spaciousness is achieved thanks to the large plot, high floors and panoramic glazing. A well-considered colour scheme, natural materials and integrated details such as hand-formed bricks on the façade underline the coherence of the design. The single-family house in Zborow proves that architecture can combine aesthetics, functionality and emotional experience to create a place of true relaxation.

About the studio:
EQ – equilibre – the name of the design studio refers to the meaning of the French word equilibre – balance, equilibrium, proportion. Equilibre is the natural state of a living organism its proper position. Calmness and composure. A stable arrangement of opposing forces and values. A state in which the forces acting on each other cancel each other out. The interpretation of the word equilibre, relates directly to the studio’s main ideological assumptions. “It perfectly describes what I try to realise as an academic lecturer and designer. I seek a balance between the new and the old. I take care to place the buildings and their interiors in their wider context, urban, historical, social and natural. My priority is to optimally adapt to the needs, perceptions and aspirations of investors and the public. The right balance of functionality, sustainability and aesthetics. Achieving harmony of colours, textures and proportions. Using environmentally responsible materials and technologies. Reducing energy consumption and making it possible to obtain energy from renewable sources.” – explains Dr.-Ing. arch.
