Modern medicine and dentistry can no longer be limited to schematic, cool spaces. The inspiration to break these canons came from the cooperation between the owner of Łuba Dental Clinic, Adrian Łuba, and Paweł Jurkiewicz Studio – a meeting of two passions: for design and for quality. The result? A waiting room that not only fulfils a utilitarian function, but is also an aesthetic manifesto, reminiscent of a cosy flat or an elegant boutique.
The idea behind the design was clear – to break with the stereotypical image of medical facilities. The main idea was to create a space that envelops both patients and the clinic team with its warmth. The interior was designed so that every element – from the materials to the furniture to the architectural details – not only beautifies the space, but also makes the waiting time more pleasant. It is noteworthy that the project was created in a spirit of complete trust and cooperation – every detail was carefully refined to create a place that will last for at least another 12 years.
A space that breaks the mould
The interior of the waiting room is distinguished by an original combination of modern minimalism with vintage elements and new Polish design. Instead of cool, clinical forms, the space has been given softness and warmth – thanks to curved shapes that soften the severity of standard medical design. The furniture, made to order, not only decorates the interior, but also has a practical function, providing comfort for both patients and clinic staff.
At the heart of the design is the patinated reception counter made by Friedrich Ironwork. Its unique appearance, achieved through a special brass ageing technique, provides a strong entrance accent to the waiting area. Against the backdrop of this main area, the designer has skilfully combined elements of modernity and classicism.
The focal point of the arrangement is the Emperador Dark marble table by NG Design, which harmoniously blends in with the rest of the interior. Next to it are Little Petra armchairs, upholstered in a cream Dedar fabric, brought in thanks to a collaboration with &Tradition – comfortable, yet full of sophistication. This is complemented by a woven beige rug from Benut, which gives the space a cosy and cohesive feel.
The design is also accompanied by a set of carefully selected accessories. Including, among others, the Tulip auxiliary table by Knoll, inspired by classic designs by Eero Saarinen, adds lightness and dynamism to the interior. Also noteworthy are the vintage chairs from the 1970s, imported from Italy, which bring a unique atmosphere. The interior also features a bench in walnut and rattan, designed by Pierre Jeanneret and manufactured by Cassina.

An additional asset are the details, such as the brass turnstiles made to order by the Polish manufactory Unimetal – testifying to the attention to the smallest details. The character of the space is also emphasised by a suspended display case with curved corners, made of brown glass and lacquered in high gloss – an element that goes beyond standard functionality.
Light and atmosphere
The mood of an interior is created by carefully designed lighting. The milky Artemide Nesso table lamp diffuses a soft, cosy light that blends in perfectly with the overall design. In turn, the lamp suspended above the reception area, inherited from the previous interior, is a unique accent, emphasising the continuity of the history of the place.
The photograph of a stormy sea by Robby Cyron, suspended above an oak veneer wall covering, also plays a special role. Its dynamic symbolism contrasts with the gentle character of the space, giving it a unique artistic expression.
Łuba Dental Clinic is a place where design plays a dual role: it builds positive emotions in visitors and supports the team’s daily work. Every element – from the furniture, to the colour scheme, to the smallest details such as cups, coasters and decorations – has been selected with the highest quality and functionality in mind. This conscious combination of aesthetics and practicality makes the interior a true showpiece of the clinic.
The result of this project is a space that redefines the concept of waiting rooms in medical facilities. A creative approach, a shared vision and meticulous execution have made Łuba Dental Clinic an inspiring place where design harmonises with the highest quality of service. The opportunity to enjoy everyday moments of waiting and working in a space combining art and functionality is the best proof that exceptional design can also be relied upon in the field of medicine.
