Last Wednesday, 19 June, Warsaw’s Powiśle district was transformed into a centre of Spanish design. Thanks to the initiative of the Spanish Embassy and the support of the OKK! PR agency, the capital of Poland hosted a unique event held under the banner of SPANISH TOUCH. The Spanish Design Day, organised at the Barceló Powiśle Hotel, brought participants closer to the world of Spanish creativity and innovation. This unique meeting allowed Varsovians to feel Spanish passion and elegance, while learning about the latest trends in design and architecture.
Barceló Powiśle Hotel, located at 43A Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie Street, became the venue for Poland’s first exhibition dedicated to Spanish design. This unique evening was attended by over 200 guests including: architects, designers and media representatives. They were able to see the range of leading brands such as Alvic, Cosentino, esPattio, Inclass, LZF Lamps, Naturtex, Ramon Soler and Kontakt Simon. Each company showcased part of its Spanish heritage, introducing both tradition and the avant-garde in interior design and architecture. The exhibitions were accompanied by inspiring presentations and discussions on architecture with distinguished special guests who shared their experiences and visions of the future.
The event featured, among others, Alberto Veiga, co-founder of the renowned Barozzi Veiga studio, known for his spectacular design of the Szczecin Philharmonic, which has received international acclaim and is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Special guests also included female architects, Diana Zakrzewska of the Tremend studio and Marta Wierusz of APA Wojciechowski Architekci. The meeting was chaired by Olga Kisiel-Konopka, owner of OKK! PR and lover of good design, as well as Jakub Szczęsny, architect and author of books on architecture. The discussion not only introduced the Spanish approach to design, but also inspired reflection on the role of architecture in shaping living space.
The content part was followed by a cocktail party, during which the invited guests had the opportunity to talk and exchange experiences in an informal atmosphere. The feast for the palate was accompanied by the talented cellist Małgorzata Namiot, whose performance added a unique artistic touch to the event. It was an excellent opportunity to make new contacts and explore the secrets of Spanish design, creating a space for creative discussions and inspiring meetings. In addition, participants had the opportunity to partake in a culinary feast thanks to a live cooking show, during which master chef Paweł Bukowski prepared dishes characteristic of Spanish cuisine. Aromatic dishes such as churros and seafood delighted the guests’ taste buds, providing them with a sensory journey through Spanish flavours and aromas.
The SPANISH TOUCH Spanish Design Day is an event that has certainly made its mark on the calendar of architecture and design enthusiasts in Poland. The Spanish atmosphere, full of passion and innovation, made a brief stop in Warsaw, leaving a lasting mark in the hearts of participants. This initiative not only brought Spanish design closer to the Polish public, but also created a platform for international integration and exchange of experiences. Thanks to such events, Warsaw is becoming a meeting place for different cultures, enriching its heritage with new and inspiring elements.
