The cultural spring at the Praga Koneser Centre promises to be extremely grand. The Museum of Fantastic Art there has launched the 4th edition of the exhibition Fantastic Art in Warsaw, which will run until 25 May 2025. It totals more than seventy works by prominent Polish artists working in the surrealist trend. What is most intriguing – the vast majority of the exhibits are being presented to the public for the first time. Interesting proposals have also been prepared by the galleries located in Koneser: ToTuart and Leonarda Art Gallery.
The Museum of Fantastic Art in Warsaw has been operating in the capital’s Koneser since 2022, attracting crowds of fans of the trend with its regular exhibitions. However, this is not surprising. Names such as Zdzisław Beksiński, Jerzy Duda-Gracz, Wojciech Siudmak, Wiesław Wałkuski, Dariusz Zawadzki or Jacek Szynkarczuk arouse the interest not only of domestic art connoisseurs, but also of visitors from abroad.

– Fantastic art is very popular, as evidenced by the interest in previous editions of the exhibition. They were seen by a total of tens of thousands of people, which shows how the public is thirsty for this kind of art. Cyclically, we present the latest works of a new generation of artists who, drawing on the work of such classics as Zdzisław Beksiński, Jerzy Duda-Gracz and Wojciech Siudmak, have created their own unique world. We confront these two artistic worlds, and this formula is enthusiastically received by visitors,” says Magdalena Jaworska, director of the Museum of Fantastic Art.
The 4th edition of the Fantastic Art exhibition in Warsaw – in addition to the artists already mentioned – includes works by Andrzej Olczyk, Mariusz Krawczyk, Sebastian Smarowski, Michał Powałka, Krzysztof Powałka, Rafał Masiulaniec, Igor Panchuk, Bartosz Stępiński, Grzegorz Czechowski, Grzegorz Wróbel and Magdalena Szynkarczuk.

– For this year’s edition we were able to acquire as many as 11 works by Wojciech Siudmak, including six sculptures, from private collectors. We are also presenting six paintings by Zdzisław Beksiński, which are in our permanent collection, as well as three works by Jerzy Duda-Gracz, including the excellent painting ‘Sabat mater’ from 1997. In addition, the exhibition features exceptional works by Wiesław Wałkuski, Dariusz Zawadzki, Jacek Szynkarczuk, Sebastian Smarowski and other great artists. It is also worth noting that all works come from private collections and visiting the exhibition may be the only opportunity to see them. This year, a total of 71 exhibits await art fans,” points out Magdalena Jaworska.
The exhibition will be open until 25 May 2025. Tickets for it are available via ebilet.pl and at the museum’s box office.

Not only fantastic art
The Praga Koneser Centre, which houses the Museum of Fantastic Art, is known for its numerous galleries and cyclical exhibitions – fitting in with the artistic climate of Warsaw’s Praga district. Until 23 March 2025, the Leonarda Art Gallery is showing works by street art artists. In it, Blue Does Lines and Lux By Iks prove that ‘art does not need simple answers – it can balance on the edge of contrasts, blurring and emphasising them at the same time’. In turn, the exhibition Steel and Water is on display at ToTuart Gallery until 31 March. The artist, Yuliya Stratovich, uses paintings, sculptures and a short film to show Gdansk – the relationship between the city and its inhabitants – in her project. Admission to both exhibitions is free.
