Its design was prepared by Patrycja Dorczak. The flat is located in Kraków, and the interior was realised for young women who are beginning their studies. A space was created to reflect their sense of aesthetics.
The flat is located in a new building. The functional layout proposed by the developer did not quite meet the needs of the future tenants and required changes. The wall dividing the kitchen from the living room was demolished in order to enlarge the living area and expose the kitchen, which from the beginning in the investor’s vision was to be blue in colour.
In the place of the demolished wall, it was possible to build an island, which now subtly connects the two zones. The decorative element of this part is the AQFORM lamp hanging above the island. The HVYT gold handles are a colourful detail, their minimalist form giving the furniture an elegant flair. The Omnires kitchen mixer from the SWITCH collection is a jewel-like addition.
More space in the bathroom was achieved by changing the position of the washing machine and dryer, which were finally hidden behind a built-in piece of furniture in the hallway. The bathroom is distinguished by a dark grey colour scheme. The designer proposed copper-coloured fittings, which sharpen the sintered veins. This is complemented by a suspended wardrobe made of natural veneer fronts.
However, daily life takes place mainly in the living room. This is the tenants’ favourite space. The largest piece of furniture is a custom-made sofa. Part of the living area is the dining table, which is the place for dining, but is also useful for studying.
The flat in Krakow has two bedrooms. The first is decorated with expressive wallpaper, whose colour accents blend with the bed upholstery. The calmness of the space is also created by a wardrobe in coffee-pink. The designer carefully designed the fronts for the wardrobe, which has one part filled with a mirror so that the wallpaper is reflected in the furniture and creates a kind of compositional buckle for the entire room.
The second bedroom is dominated by the colour green, the depth of which is enhanced by gold sconces and handles. Also in this bedroom is a wardrobe entirely designed by the designer.
An interesting solution that deserves attention is the finish of the entrance wall to the flat, I wanted the entrance to be a bracket to the living area, gently guiding the visitor to the further part. I proposed installing a concealed door to the toilet, which was finished with wallpaper on the corridor side and sintering on the toilet side. This treatment made the entrance sensitive and delicate,” concludes Patrycja Dorczak.

About the designer:
Patrycja Dorczak is a young designer who works on original projects. Her designs are distinguished by interesting colour combinations. Specialising in complex interior design, the young designer’s most common theme is the modernisation of 1960s houses, which requires not only a flexible design approach but also technical expertise. When it comes to interior design, I try to take a flexible approach, but most often I design eclectic interiors, which give me the opportunity to create individual designs for my investors.
Working in interior design gives me a great deal of professional satisfaction, and I am keen to work with the client ‘in person’. Designing flats and houses is a process that can take a few months/years, over this time the client’s sense of design also changes and often the first versions of designs accepted at the beginning of the project change, which I find beautiful and add authenticity to these interiors,” says Patrycja Dorczak.
