The investors bought it in a shell state. The suburban house was to become an enclave where they would find rest and comfort. The materials used in the design were intended not only to decorate, but also to create a microclimate beneficial to the body and soul. The interior was designed by Aga Kobus, Dominika Wrzosek-Kwiatkowska and Grzegorz Goworek from STUDIO. ORGANIC.
Their suburban house was originally intended to be used for relaxation only during the summer months. After giving it some thought, the investors decided to make it a place of rest in winter as well.
It is a perfect place to live, surrounded by fields, but also by meadows and forests with a natural succession of plants. The microbiome of these habitats is very beneficial to humans. And the house itself, a block not of our making, is an excellent sun catcher,” describes Aga Kobus.
Thanks to the strong glazing, the residents can relax inside and have the impression of being constantly surrounded by nature and their favourite horses. After all, their coveted stables were built right next door.
The suburban house is a single-storey building, but is 6.5 m high at its highest point. It was built in a C-plan. The central part and the diagonally positioned right wing is now a single-space living area. It is as large as 150 square metres and consists of the following: a fireplace lounge located next to the hall (a hanging fireplace will soon appear here), dining room, kitchen and a second living room adjacent to the dining room. In addition, a semi-enclosed study with two workspaces has been created on the mezzanine above the hall. The left wing houses the private area, with a master bedroom, a white bath room and a dressing room. In addition, a guest room and a second bathroom were located here.
The appropriate aura of the space was achieved with warm finishing materials. The ceiling was covered with wood, which emphasises the height of the rooms and visually calms the geometry of the house. The shade of the cladding is a reference to the plank flooring recovered from old buildings.
Some are wider, others narrower, with visible cracks and uneven colouring, and the grain is further emphasised by brushing. There is a lot of history in them, a lot of truth, ” points out Grzegorz.
A nod to minimalism are the walls. Covered with rough textured plaster, they are sincere, do not imitate anything, lend a feeling of neutrality and have a beneficial effect on the acoustics of the wood. An industrial accent is provided by bookcases made of chemically aged steel. These elements are a design by STUDIO. ORGANIC. Specially for this house, the interior architects also designed openwork lamellar curtains separating the entrance area (vestibule, dressing room and hall) from the living room.
