iF Design Student Award 2025

Success of a Polish woman in the prestigious iF Design Student Award 2025 competition

Angelika Brzóska was awarded in the international iF Design Student Award 2025 competition. Her project ‘Uni – Urban Interactions’ won the jury’s recognition and was among the best works selected from entries from all over the world. The award gala took place on 20 June at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and was one of the most important events in the design world for young creatives. For the designer, this achievement is a great personal honour, but also proof of the growing strength and potential of Polish design on the international arena.

Diploma project from Warsaw

The award-winning project was realised as a diploma project at the Faculty of Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the supervising supervision of Dr Jan Buczek. Brzóska designed a modular urban furniture system to support and promote social interaction in public spaces. The project was created in response to the need to revitalise areas between residential buildings and create conditions conducive to neighbourly contacts.

Uni – Urban Interactions

“Uni” is a system consisting of ten modules available in different finishes. The individual elements can be freely combined with each other to create compositions adapted to the specifics of the local space. The modules are designed to be prefabricated, which allows them to be quickly replaced or repaired in the event of damage. This solution reduces production costs and waste. One of the most important considerations of the project is its accessibility. The design of the furniture takes into account the needs of the elderly and people with mobility impairments. To improve user comfort, versions of seats and backrests with thermal insulation have also been introduced. The project comprehensively addresses the needs of the modern city and its inhabitants, encouraging active coexistence in shared space.

Jury recognition at the iF Design Student Award 2025

The jury of the iF Design Student Award recognised Angelika Brzóska’s project for its flexibility and potential to make a real difference to urban reality. They noted the system’s adaptability to specific users and locations, as well as its positive impact on the quality of urban life. The project won the award in the Sustainable Cities Communities category.
