This will be a building where ecology is of paramount importance. The super school designed by JEMS Architekci will be built in the area of Siena Street in Warsaw. The project prepared by the JEMS studio won first place in the competition for the preparation of an architectural concept including land development.
The new educational complex in Zielona Białołęka will be built near an equestrian centre and in the vicinity of greenery. The facility is intended to meet the growing needs of the district, which has been developing intensively in recent years. The super-school will be built on a plot currently occupied by tin warehouses and outbuildings from the former State Agricultural Farm (PGR). Part of the plot is occupied by untidy greenery. The old buildings will soon disappear, making way for the new school.
The school building is to accommodate 24 classes from first to eighth grade. In addition, there will be special departments with therapeutic facilities. The facility itself is intended to educate pupils about environmental issues. The school will be built using low- or zero-carbon materials and will use renewable energy sources.
The extensive building designed by JEMS has an irregular form. Numerous indentations in the mass are intended to better illuminate the classrooms and act as small gardens with greenery. Greenery will also appear on the roof, which has a cascading form. The varying heights of the roofing will eliminate any sense of monotony. At its highest point, the roof is 12 metres high.
The facility will be able to accommodate more than 600 pupils and the classrooms will be built on two levels. An attractive part of the design is the entrance area, which has the character of a square. The façade of the building will be decorated with ceramic tiles in a beige colour. Interestingly, there will be a car park under the building that can accommodate 164 cars.
In total, the building will have almost 12,000 square metres of space.
