LOT has introduced new tableware made in Bolesławiec on selected long-haul flights. The hand-decorated tableware has been introduced into the on-board service on routes to East Asia and has become part of the daily service for passengers in higher classes. Tableware from Bolesławiec is highly regarded in Japan and South Korea.
Tableware from Bolesławiec to Asia
The new tableware appeared in Business Class and Premium Economy cabins on flights to Tokyo and Seoul. It is manufactured by Manufaktura in Bolesławiec, one of the most recognisable centres of functional ceramics in Poland. The carrier’s decision means that Bolesławiec products will be present on routes operated by LOT Polish Airlines, which are among the longest in the company’s network.
Order for LOT in Bolesławiec
The tableware was based on forms already known from the manufacturer’s catalogue, but the decorations were prepared especially for the airline. The order placed in Bolesławiec was relatively large and concerned a series intended exclusively for use on board LOT aircraft. In this way, the craft workshop entered the field of production for air transport, while retaining the hand-decorated style and recognisable design of the region.

The Asian fame of Bolesławiec ceramics
Products from Bolesławiec have been entering East Asian markets for years and enjoy a very positive reputation there. Ceramics of this type are often presented at exhibition events outside Europe, and their decorative nature and hand-made production process attract the attention of collectors and private users. The new in-flight tableware will also be available for purchase online in the carrier’s shop, although the designs offered to passengers will differ from those used on board the aircraft.
Tableware from Bolesławiec is not the first
The introduction of original tableware sets for passengers has a long tradition in aviation and has been used to emphasise the identity of national airlines. In the case of the Polish carrier, the new ceramics are another nod to the country’s heritage. In 2023, Krosno Glass tableware, designed for use on board aircraft, was introduced in Business and Premium Economy classes. When the porcelain for main courses was previously replaced, plates manufactured by Zakłady Porcelany Stołowej Karolina, a company operating since the 19th century, were used. In 2024, Gerlach cutlery, prepared according to the carrier’s specifications for medium- and long-haul flights, was added to the equipment. The presence of ceramics from Bolesławiec develops this direction of cooperation with domestic manufacturers.
