The eclectic townhouse at 15 Na Stoku Street, built in 1900, is once again dazzling in its appearance after a comprehensive renovation. The renovation was carried out as part of the ‘Revitalisation of Biskupia Górka and Stare Chełm’ programme, and was completed in October this year. This is the eighth investment by Gdanskie Nieruchomości in this ambitious programme, which aims to restore the historical splendour of neglected Gdańsk tenements.
Due to the historic nature of the building, the renovation required numerous works, not only structural, but also complex conservation measures. Work began in March 2023 and included a wide range of works, including horizontal and vertical damp proofing, strengthening the foundations, including a new foundation slab and deepening the foundation using the section tamping method, injection of the foundation walls and repair and stabilisation of cracked brick walls, conservation and restoration of the façade and repair and restoration of architectural detail.
The historic building also received new window and door joinery, which refers to the historic forms. As part of the work, the interiors of the common areas, staircases and residential units were also finished, and the electrical, sanitary and teletechnical installations were replaced, as well as the installation of a Building Management System to monitor energy and utility consumption. The rebuilt gables now tower over the whole.

The total cost of the investment amounted to more than PLN 5.7 million, with significant support coming from EU funds and a grant from the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego’s Surcharge Fund. The metamorphosis of the tenement is another step in the process of renewing this part of Gdańsk, helping to restore the former splendour of Biskupia Górka. Work is currently underway on a further five communal tenements, the renovations of which are due to be completed later this year, with the aim of further revitalising the local architecture and revitalising the local community. The tenement at 15 Na Stoku Street is not only a historical testimony, but also an example of a sustainable approach to the modernisation of historic buildings.
