The house was designed on a green plot in Marki near Warsaw. The authors of the concept are architects from Klangor studio. In order to match the building with its surroundings, the architects opted for simple and honest materials. The house does not dominate the landscape; it seems to be a modest neighbour to the trees growing nearby.
The client, who approached the architects with a proposal for his dream house, asked that the concept should preserve the existing trees. As a result, the block was sandwiched between three old trees: an oak, a pine and a birch.
The building was divided into three sections. Monolithic, concrete cuboid blocks at the front, a glazed, ground-floor section facing the forest greenery and the ground floor. The latter part is distinguished by a wooden façade. The cap of the first floor covers the other parts and creates a spacious terrace canopy.
In the upper block, we designed a cut-out to provide space for the spreading branches of the oak tree,” describe the authors of the project.
The interior layout was designed around a centrally located living area. It has been heavily glazed to frame the beautiful views. Located in flanking, monolithic modules, the bedrooms with bathrooms provide the necessary intimacy and comfort for the residents.
A staircase, which opens towards the interior, connects the dining room with the upstairs study and playroom. At every point in the building, the architects have designed protruding relaxation areas that bring the residents closer to the trees.
