The building was designed by Paweł Lis. The Swoosh House single-family house was built in Strzykuły near Warsaw. Its shape and form are reminiscent of classic modernism solutions. The building fits well into the intimate plot and exemplifies moderation in architecture.
The author of the project, architect Paweł Lis, admits that the idea for the original form of the house was suggested by the boomerang shape. The house has a total area of 220 square metres, and the plot on which it stands is 2060 square metres.
The design of the building is based on the axis of the elongated ground floor. The first floor was set diagonally on this axis. Its deviation from the ground floor line is emphasised by an arched wall. In this way, a dynamic form was achieved, which ensures good positioning in relation to the light sides and allows plenty of natural light to enter the building.
The existing access to the building forced the frontage to be positioned on the east side. The entrance area is emphasised by the installation of a large corner window, through which one can see the openwork staircase leading to the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a living area and a bedroom. These have been oriented to the west towards the tall greenery. On the first floor, a study and children’s rooms have been created facing south.
The architect has also provided for environmentally friendly solutions. The building will also benefit from solar panels with energy storage, and a rainwater retention system has been prepared on the plot. On dry days, the water thus collected will be used to water the garden.
The house near Warsaw has the character of a modest pavilion architecture. Its original form was achieved through the arched overhang of the first floor. The house has a light and soft form, thanks to which it blends in well with its surroundings.
