For years, it was mainly door leaves that took centre stage in premium joinery designs. Their finish, harmonious proportions and subtle details attracted the most attention from architects and developers. The MORIC brand has decided to turn this perspective on its head. The result of the collaboration with architect Aleksandra Grzonka, founder of the Cechownia studio, is NALLA, a new door model in which the most interesting feature is the rounded door frame.
Since its inception, the MORIC brand has been creating doors for the most demanding projects, combining precision craftsmanship with modern technologies and designs developed in collaboration with renowned architects. Manufactured in Poland, the brand’s door leaves are crafted with attention to every detail, from construction to finish, meeting the expectations of customers who regard original joinery as an integral part of the interior. The NALLA door frame is a natural extension of this philosophy. It is a model that has the potential to redefine the role of one of the most underrated elements of a door.
The soft geometry of the entrance
The inspiration behind the NALLA was a bespoke interior designed by architect Aleksandra Grzonka for one of Cechownia’s clients. The guiding theme of the interior design proposed by Cechownia was soft lines and subtle curves. A natural consequence of the chosen aesthetic was a door whose form was based not on a decorative leaf, but on a very deliberately designed frame. Together with the MORIC team, the architect later developed this original detail into a fully-fledged product, which has now been added to the brand’s range.
The design fits perfectly with one of the most important trends in contemporary design. Rounded forms have seemed to dominate interior architecture for several seasons now. They are present in furniture, built-in joinery, kitchens, doorways and wall niches. Curves are replacing sharp angles, lending spaces a more artistic and soft character. MORIC brings this design style to door joinery, offering a solution that has, until now, been virtually non-existent in this product category.
Bringing this idea to life required the development of a completely new technological solution. The MORIC team created a proprietary hybrid design, combining the aesthetics of a classic door frame with the capabilities of concealed systems. The result is a solution that preserves the characteristic, soft geometry whilst meeting high technical and functional requirements. It is an example of craftsmanship supported by modern technology – an approach that has set the MORIC brand apart for years.
The NALLA model is available in a lacquered finish. AleksandraGrzonka designed it as a lintel-free option, exclusively for rooms of full height (up to 3,300 mm). The design is complemented by the dedicated FIN Top 300-06 skirting board, 300 mm high, whose subtle milling pattern echoes the characteristic detail of the door leaf and frame. Both elements form a cohesive system for finishing the space.
“Every project begins with a spark of inspiration. I believe that the best visions arise from careful observation of people and their stories. NALLA was born out of a bespoke interior design project in which rounded forms were a fundamental element of the composition. It was a natural step to transfer this soft geometry to doors, not through a decorative door leaf, but through the door frame, which until then had remained almost invisible. In a world where architects seek solutions refined down to the smallest detail, the door frame ceases to be merely a structural element. In the NALLA model, it becomes architecture.
