It is 98 sq m in size and has become the new home for a family of four. The modern flat in Wilanów, Warsaw, was designed by Aleksandra Hyz. The designer opted for maximum functionality and sandy colours to create a visually coherent space.
The new living space for this young family was subordinated to their needs The interior has a clear functional layout. The heart of the flat is the living room, which has been connected to the kitchen. In addition, from the living room you can step out onto the balcony to spend time outdoors. A narrow corridor leads to the private area with bedrooms (the main one and the daughter who is a few years old). There are two bathrooms in the flat, one communal and the other found next to the master bedroom.
The interior layout, however, is not a coincidence. Its original version has been slightly modified. The living room with kitchen and the master bedroom underwent the biggest change. Previously, there was no room for a wardrobe, only a wardrobe. With the changes, it was possible to create a comfortable sleeping area, a wardrobe for storage and a private bathroom.
Functionality counts
According to the developer’s original plan, the kitchen was separated from the rest of the flat by a small wall. Removing this wall made it possible to better design the kitchenette and place a large table in the dining area. Now, up to eight people can take part in shared meals.

Aleksandra Hyz admits that she is satisfied with the visual effect. The highlight is the identical colour match between the wood of the floor and the kitchen unit. The latter is also distinguished by the steel worktop with integrated sink, which improves the functionality of the entire room.

The power of soft colours
Throughout the flat there is a consistent colour scheme that promotes tranquillity. Warm greys are combined with wood of natural colour. Dark-coloured wood elements (smoked oak) are an accent. The entire project was achieved thanks to good communication between the architect and the clients. They knew exactly what effect they wanted and were open to the designer’s suggestions. Even if these proposals involved tearing down a wall.
