The BLUR project: A transcendental journey through emotion and space

BLUR is an original project combining contemporary art and interior design, in which Dominika Augustynek invites the viewer on a deep, emotional journey. This interdisciplinary initiative blurs the boundaries between painting and space, creating an intimate dialogue between image, light, nature and interior design. The exhibition is not just a presentation of works, but a manifesto of sorts, in which every element – from tables to textiles to plants – interacts to emphasise the transience of emotions and memories.

Born in Hrubieszów, Dominika Augustynek was educated at the Technical and Artistic Academy in Warsaw, where she studied interior design. The knowledge she gained during her studies became the foundation that permeates every aspect of her work. The experience of designing spaces has influenced the way she frames her paintings, giving them a new dimension in which form, space and light coexist. Painting has become a tool for the artist to express deep emotions and, at the same time, a way of exploring human relationships – motifs that are at the core of her artistic explorations.

BLUR – an indistinct blur of emotions

At the heart of the BLUR project lies the idea of transience: “a fuzzy blur” or “something that is remembered as if through a fog”. Each painting is a personal, visual note, the essence of moments frozen between reality and introspection. Through layers of fuzzy colours and dynamic compositions, the artist seems to explore how relationships between people – from the delicate nuances of trust to complicated family ties – leave a lasting, though often subtle, mark on our consciousness. This subtle yet emotional dialogue translates into the possibility of individual interpretation of each work, making the viewing experience unique and personal.

Image in space

The BLUR project is more than a collection of paintings. It is a complex installation in which the paintings fit into a carefully arranged space. The composition of the table, the set of fabrics and the floral elements create an atmospheric setting that emphasises the emotionality and ephemerality of the paintings on display. The integration of art and interior design emphasises the artist’s innovative approach to conveying feelings – providing a space where light, form and material details work together to create a single, coherent narrative. This interdisciplinary fusion invites the viewer to participate in an experience in which the boundary between the exhibition and the everyday blurs, opening the door to reflection and a deeper look at one’s own emotions.

BLUR is a project that not only presents visual beauty, but also acts as a catalyst for emotion. For the artist, art becomes a space where materiality meets spirituality – where every detail, be it a painterly brushstroke or a carefully selected piece of décor, contributes to the construction of a multidimensional picture of life. The translation of personal experiences into universal emotions gives the exhibition a dimension that is both intimate and shared by each viewer. BLUR forces us to reflect on how our relationships shape our perceptions of ourselves and the world, creating a space for both memory and new, profound experience.

Through the BLUR project, Dominika Augustynek shows that art knows no boundaries – combining aesthetics, emotion and functional space. This intimate and atmospheric installation is a conscious experience that encourages immersion in the world of emotions, memory and fleeting moments. For the contemporary viewer, BLUR is not only a visual feast, but also an impulse to reflect on one’s own life – encouraging the discovery of what emotions lie hidden in the everyday.

The exhibition entitled. ‘BLUR’ premiered in March this year in the space of the Bliska Pavilion in Warsaw.
