Emirates Airlines has unveiled its first Airbus A350 aircraft. Inside, there are three classes for passengers, from economy to the most luxurious business class. We take a look at what comfort travellers can expect.
The aircraft was unveiled at a special event in Dubai. The new A350 offers three cabin classes with a total of 312 seats. The first people to travel on it will be those flying from Dubai to Edinburgh on 3 January 2025. In the following months, A350 aircraft will fly airports such as Bahrain, Muscat, Kuwait, Lyon, Bologna, Colombo and Mumbai.
In total, Emirates airlines will see 65 Airbus A350 aircraft. They will add to the carrier’s fleet, which today is based on Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.
The A350 aircraft allows passengers to travel in three classes: economy, premium economy and business. Passenger comfort is influenced by a raised ceiling, wider aisles and larger toilets. Luggage space has been optimised with compartment pockets and larger overhead luggage racks. A luxurious element is the use of ghaf wood in the trim. The ghaf tree is a symbol of the United Arab Emirates. The interior is also complemented by brown and gold accents and cream leather trim. Sound insulation is also a plus. The quiet cabins are intended to promote a calm atmosphere and contribute to a sense of comfort.
Emirates Economy Class
Economy Class is distinguished by its 3-3-3 seating arrangement, with a total of 259 passengers travelling in Economy Class on regional routes or 238 on long-haul routes. The seats in this class have a light blue colour scheme and brown armrests. Next year, the seats will be fitted with a new headrest allowing six-position adjustment. The seat pitch is 78-81 cm and the width is 46 cm. Economy class passengers can look forward to in-flight entertainment on a 13.3-inch screen with 4K resolution.
Emirates premium economy class
In this class, travellers have more space. The seats have a 2-3-2 arrangement, with a total of 21 seats in premium economy class on regional flights or 28 on long-haul routes. The comfortable seats in this class have calf rests and footrests. The head restraints allow six-position adjustment. The seat pitch is 99 cm and the seat width is 49 cm. Each seat is equipped with a 4K screen with a diagonal of 13.3 inches. If you choose premium economy class, you can count on meals served on Royal Doulton table china with Robert Welch cutlery sets.
Emirates Business Class
This is the most expensive travel option, but the most luxurious. Business Class seats are installed in a 1-2-1 arrangement, with a total of 32 seats in this class on the aircraft. Travel is on reclining seats that allow you to change into a reclining position. The seats are modelled on the interior of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class car. The seat pitch is 111 cm and the width is 53 cm. One difference is the on-board entertainment screen, which is as large as 20 inches in business class. Another difference is the beverage tables, which allow wireless charging of a smartphone or headphones. Business Class travellers can also enjoy a free snack area. Dishes are served on Royal Doulton china and with Robert Welch brand cutlery.
Emirates’ new A350 aircraft offer Wi-Fi access. The aircraft also features the new aerBlade blinds, which are electrically operated. An interesting feature is the ability to view the flight path live – there are five external cameras on the aircraft that transmit images to passengers’ screens.
