The Board of Communal Housing Resources is continuing its efforts to improve housing conditions and the aesthetics of the city’s housing stock. In 2025, the company is continuing its intensive renovation schedule. This time, a historic tenement house located at 14 Wierzbięcice Street in Poznań will undergo modernisation. The investment, valued at PLN 9 million, is another step towards restoring the former splendour of the city’s buildings.

The tenement house at 14 Wierzbięcice Street was erected in 1910 and has served as a residential building since its inception. The building, which currently houses 22 units, is characterised by its rich and representative architecture. Influences from the Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Romanesque and Art Nouveau styles are evident, particularly in the stucco details. The building has been on the register of historical monuments since 1982, so its renovation is being carried out in cooperation with the city conservator. The scope of the planned work is extensive and involves the comprehensive modernisation of both the interior and exterior of the building. The front and rear façade will be renovated, taking into account the historical details and original colours. The work will also include insulation of the walls, replacement of windows and door frames, renovation of the roof, re-bricking of the chimneys and replacement of the roof ridges, gutters and downpipes.

The staircase and balconies will also be modernised, and residents will benefit from a new electrical installation. The courtyard will not be spared any changes either. Its space will be tidied up and the whole will be provided with new small architectural objects, enhancing the aesthetics and functionality of the common space. In line with the idea of sustainable development, ZKZL also envisages pro-ecological activities. As part of these, 33 tiled cookers will disappear from the tenement, to be replaced by a modern central heating system. Zarząd Komunalnych Zasobów Lokalowych plans to complete the investment by the end of the first quarter of 2026. The implementation of this project is not only a response to the needs of the residents, but also a continuation of the strategy of revitalising the urban fabric. It is worth noting that the company plans to obtain non-refundable support from the BGK Surcharge Fund to cover part of the investment costs. Inwestprojekt Poznań and Nuua/Architekci are responsible for the project.
