The kingdom of openness and wood. A 100-square-metre flat in Wrocław

The 100-square-metre two-level flat was designed by Zaoblone Studio, run by Olga Guźlińska. Located in Wojszyce, Wrocław, it is a functional space for a family, and its main advantages are subdued colours, lots of curves and a wooden spiral staircase.

The 100-square-metre flat and its concept

The design is based on a subdued range of pastel colours combined with wood, stone and clearly defined textures. Curved lines appear in many elements of the furnishings and fittings, decorating the interior and introducing a gentle rhythm. Carefully selected materials create an atmosphere conducive to calm, while allowing the individual areas of the flat to remain distinct.

Living area and kitchen in colours

The central part of the lower level is an open living area with a kitchen, where details play the most important role. The kitchen furniture is diversified by grooves and frame divisions of the fronts, and the visual accent is placed on the worktop with a distinctive terrazzo pattern. It brings together the colours present throughout the interior and breaks up the pastel blue of the furniture.

Wooden stairs – the king of the interior

The most interesting element of the apartment is the massive wooden staircase leading to the attic. In addition to their obvious communicative function, they also serve as a kind of sculpture. Their design required significant changes to the layout of the premises, as the entrance to the attic was originally located in a different place and did not assume such an impressive element. The adaptation of the attic for the residents’ use meant giving up the wardrobe, which was compensated for by the addition of a spacious cupboard and a seat in the hall.

The bathroom as an oasis of relaxation

Olga Guźlińska designed the bathroom as a space for relaxation and regeneration. The muted green of the walls combined with terracotta tiles creates a calm contrast that gently enlivens the interior. The vertical divisions of the space are broken up by curves, which are consistently present throughout the flat. The composition is complemented by details in the form of brushed copper fittings.
