On the eastern shore of Lake Paprocańskie, a structure has been built that brings order to and completes the layout of the local promenade. The marina was designed by the RS Robert Skitek studio. The structure has become a natural extension of the promenade and, at the same time, a modern facility that meets the needs of sailors using the lake. This effect was achieved thanks to carefully selected materials.
A few years earlier, the MOSM canoeing centre was opened nearby. The new building has taken over the functions related to sailing: it houses boat shelters, club facilities and a training area. To avoid conflict between pedestrian traffic and marina users, the architects opted for a solution that organises the entire site – the promenade has been routed above the building’s structure.
The building’s roof has become part of the promenade. The structure rises smoothly above the marina and slopes down behind it, creating a gentle curve leading back to the older section of the waterfront. This gives sailors unobstructed access to the jetties, whilst walkers can move about without interference, without disrupting the marina’s operations.
The building’s form has been integrated into the shape of the headland, allowing for maximum use of the shoreline. The promenade is constructed from larch planks, ensuring the new section harmonises with the earlier development. A long bench runs along the lake side, whilst a sunken green belt has been designed on the opposite side. The jetties are used by moored boats, whilst the slipway facilitates the launching of equipment.
The entrance areas are fitted with high-quality doors featuring multi-point locks and electric strikes, whilst the club rooms feature windows that perform well with large glazed areas. Casement windows are fitted in selected locations to facilitate natural ventilation. Inside the building, there are lightweight aluminium display windows, and where required by regulations, partitions with increased fire resistance.

Thanks to these solutions, the architects were able to create a space that opens out onto the lake, whilst remaining durable and resistant to changing weather conditions. The chosen joinery served as a tool to preserve the design’s lightness and emphasise its transparent character.
The complex on Lake Paprocańskie has been under development since 2014. Subsequent projects by the RS studio form a coherent whole, which has become one of the most popular destinations in Tychy – both for residents and visitors coming here to enjoy the lake and its surrounding facilities.
