It is the first centre for immersive art in Poland and in this part of Europe. At melt museum, the boundary between the real and virtual worlds blurs, and visitors will be able to interact with digital art through multimedia exhibitions.
This is no ordinary museum! Right in the heart of the capital, at 2a Powstańców Warszawy Square, themelt museumhas opened – the only venue in Poland offering interactive, fully immersive experiences. What sets it apart? Instead of exhibits in display cases and paintings on the walls, visitors will find over a dozen rooms filled with cutting-edge technology, allowing them to immerse themselves in a virtual world that stimulates all the senses and experience emotions unlike anything they’ve felt before! The first permanent exhibition , ‘Artificial Dreams’ , by Kamil Staszczyszyn and Kuba Matyka – the founders of melt museum and the creators of the entire concept and multisensory experiences – is dedicated to the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence, which straddles the line between a techno-utopia and a cyberpunk vision of the world. Spread across three floors totalling over 600 square metres, there are 14 original, multi-sensory installations. Each has been designed to encourage visitors to interact and, for a moment, not only forget about reality but also allow the ubiquitous artificial intelligence to transport them to the me(l)taversum. At the melt museum, AI is like a shadow – always close by and tempting visitors with attractions.
And there’s no shortage of them! Thanks to SIMULATION, you can immerse yourself in a virtual ocean of tens of thousands of fish replicants. Advanced sensors record every movement, which directly influences the behaviour of the digital shoal. THE GRID treats visitors to an intergalactic journey full of lights and sounds. Meanwhile, INFINITY WELL –a well of infinity where you can step inside and walk across a bottomless glass surface – will be a real test of courage. The impact of these experiences is further enhanced by the spatial soundscape, created by the acclaimed composer and music producer Wojciech Urbański.
Kamila Staszczyszyn and Kuba Matyka emphasise that their aim was to create an immersive Disneyland for everyone, regardless of age. They have designed the space so that a visit to the melt museum is not only the perfect idea for a date, a night out with friends or spending free time with the whole family, but also an alternative to other, well-known forms of entertainment.
Artificial Dreams is a journey beyond the boundaries of reality into a world where science fiction effects are within reach. We’ve strived to ensure that every step allows our visitors to immerse themselves in the electrifying landscapes of the future, drawing them into an interactive symphony of light, image and sound. It’s more than just an exhibition! It’s a portal through which we can touch tomorrow and explore what the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence might look like,” says Kuba Matyka, Experience Director at melt museum.
In our work, we focus on experiences, and we encourage visitors to melt museumto do the same . It’s worth interacting with the installations that react to movement, ‘immersing’ yourself in the immersive fun, and only then taking out your smartphone to share the experience with others– adds Creative Director Kamila Staszczyszyn.
melt museumisopen from Tuesday to Friday from 1 pm to 10 pm, and at weekends from 10 am to 10 pm. Tickets for the exhibition can be purchased online or at the venue. Until 19 November 2023, as part of the Early Access scheme, visitors can purchase tickets with a 20 per cent discount. Currently, after the discount, a standard ticket costs 60 zł and a concessionary ticket 50 zł.
Melt Immersive – a multi-award-winning studio founded by the creative duo Kamila Staszczyszyn and Kuba Matyka, who were recognised in the NewEurope100 ranking of the most innovative creators in Central and Eastern Europe, compiled by the Financial Times. Their artistic projects, including the immersive exhibition *Moments*at the Atelier Des Lumières in Paris and *Turbulence*at the Ars Electronica Festival in Austria, have garnered international acclaim. Kamila Staszczyszyn and Kuba Matyka have collaborated with Polish artists such as the band PRO8L3M, Hania Rani, Dawid Podsiadło and Sokół. They have also created music videos for global stars such as Empire Of The Sun, PNAU, Bebe Rexha and Troye Sivan.
