A modern villa has been built in Berlin’s Westend. Its interior was designed to take full advantage of the attractive surroundings, which are dominated by the green of the Grunewald forest and the proximity of the Grosser Wannsee lake. Agi Kuczynska of TAKK Studio gave the building a completely new expression, transforming it into a space with its own style and character. She arranged the interior of the 150-square-metre Berlin villa with a client working in the financial world and her daughter in mind.
The living room is dominated by calm shades inspired by the colours of a nearby lake. A custom-made rug and sofa create an interesting composition, which is complemented by a photograph by Jacek Kolodziejski and a classic Flos lamp designed by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzu.
Lower down is a multifunctional space where both a ballet practice room and a home office and guest room have been planned. The wall of the room is decorated with a velvet curtain with a geometric pattern by Jacek Kolodziejski, which allows for different arrangements depending on the needs. The room also features an Egon Eiermann desk and a Bobby mobile container designed by Joe Colombo.

On the staircase, the designer introduced wooden finishes and a hand-woven kilim from Tartaruga Studio. Through this treatment, the communication zone has been given a warm, natural and eye-pleasing atmosphere. The first floor is occupied by the bedroom, where a custom-made bed and wardrobe have been set up. A silver mobile sculpture hovers over the whole, alluding to the movement of the leaves outside the window. The interior is completed with a classic Wassily armchair and colourful bedside lamps by &Tradition.
The interior of the Berlin villa in Westend is a successful combination of aesthetics with a very contemporary expression and the qualities of the beautiful natural surroundings. Aga Kuczynski has succeeded in creating a space that is elegant yet close to the daily needs of the residents. An important aspect of her work was also the introduction of furniture and objects made by Polish craftsmen and artists into the design.
