The new BoConcept showroom in Gdańsk has officially opened

Plenty of greenery, natural materials and the best of Danish design. The official opening of the new BoConcept showroom took place in Gdańsk on 24 March. The event, held at City Meble on Grunwaldzka Avenue, brought together architects, designers and journalists. Special guests included representatives from Gdańsk’s Academy of Fine Arts and Gdynia Design Days. The highlight of the evening was an inspiring talk by architect Jakub Szczęsny. This is the first showroom in the world designed in the spirit of the Store Ekstraordinær concept.

From its workshop in Herning, Denmark, to over 300 showrooms in 64 countries – BoConcept is today synonymous with the highest quality of Scandinavian design. The brand is now 74 years old and combines minimalism, functionality and timeless design, collaborating with designers such as Morten Georgsen, Karim Rashid and Henrik Pedersen. On 24 March this year, the BoConcept showroom reopened in Gdańsk.

The opening of the new showroom attracted a large group of architects, interior designers and representatives of the trade media to City Meble – including those from ‘Design Alive’, ‘Dom i Wnętrze’, ‘WhiteMAD’ and ‘Wprost’. Guests had the opportunity to explore the showroom at their leisure and take a closer look at the latest designs from BoConcept. Sofas, armchairs and dining room furniture – every item could be touched and tested for comfort in spaces resembling real home interiors.

Store Ekstraordinær

Representatives of the brand were present at the new showroom that evening, including Jarosław Lehwark – CEO of BoConcept in Poland – and the event was opened by Kamil Maślanka – co-owner and managing director of the brand’s showrooms in key locations across Poland, who has represented BoConcept in our country for many years.

The showroom we are presenting to you today is BoConcept’s latest project. It is the first showroom in the world designed according to the “Store Ekstraordinær” concept. Subsequent stores, which will open in places such as Vienna and other countries, will be designed exactly to the same concept. Undoubtedly, it is a major event for us to be the first to be allowed to use this concept. We are extremely proud that BoConcept has returned to Gdańsk and the Tri-City, ” said Kamil Maślanka proudly.

These words were reflected in the showroom space itself, the design of which utilised natural materials and greenery to create a calm atmosphere inspired by biophilic design. The furniture and accessories were displayed in the form of ready-made arrangements, closely resembling real interiors, and the whole space was designed to encourage not only viewing but also conversation and the exchange of ideas. The new Gdańsk showroom is a place that combines the functions of a showroom, a design studio and a space for seeking inspiration.

Supporting young talent and improving quality of life

The event was also attended by representatives of Gdynia Design Days and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, including architect Prof. Jan Sikora. The BoConcept brand plans to launch a support programme for young talent – graduates, lecturers and students. The ceramic work of one of them – Mikołaj Wyszkowski, an artist, sculptor and graduate of the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts – was on display in the showroom that evening. This sculpture will remain in the showroom for the long term, becoming an integral part of it and inviting guests to continue engaging with art.

The highlight of the evening was a talk by author, lecturer, architect and designer Jakub Szczęsny: “Design your own Scandinavian family”, in which the architect took the audience on a journey through the world of Danish design. In his view, BoConcept products reflect values associated with simplicity, functionality, craftsmanship and natural materials, contributing to an improved quality of life for users.

Decades of Danish design in Poland

The conversations naturally took on a more relaxed tone during the informal part – participants discussed design, shared experiences and spent time in a pleasant, sociable atmosphere, making new acquaintances.

Many people emphasised that the space had been designed in a way that allowed visitors to truly experience the brand’s character and see how Danish design works in everyday interiors. Representatives from Gdynia Design Days were also present at the meeting; they personally invited guests to take part in this year’s edition of the festival, which will run from 20 June 2026 to 28 June.

All attendees received small gifts from the Cztery Szpaki brand. DJ Bartez provided the music, and the event was accompanied by refreshments prepared by the Gdańsk restaurant Nikka and the signature cocktail bar Sassy. A glass of prosecco was served, which gave way to colourful cocktails during the informal part of the evening.

This gathering was not only an opportunity to discover a new venue, but also a chance to celebrate Danish design – which has been present in Poland for several decades – together in the heart of Gdańsk. The event was hosted by Olga Kisiel-Konopka, CEO of OKK! PR, who oversaw the entire organisation.
