This is one of the few architectural competitions in Poland that translates into the realisation of a concrete project that is later available to residents. The Geberit brand has launched the XXVI edition of the ‘Bathroom Design 2025′ competition. This year, the designers’ task will be to design a public toilet in Szczecin. Applications for the competition can already be sent in.
The theme of this year’s edition is the conceptual design of a public toilet in the surroundings of Jasne Błoni in Szczecin – a place of exceptional historical and social significance. This location is a challenge, but it will also allow designers to unleash their talents.
Jasny Błonia im. Jana Pawła II in Szczecin is not only a popular place for walks and city events, but also an area under conservation protection due to its unique urban and natural character. Located in the vicinity of the historic City Hall building, the area is a symbolic combination of nature, history and public space open to all. In designing a public toilet in such a challenging context, participants face the challenge of incorporating modern architecture into Szczecin’s valuable cultural and landscape heritage.
The competition is open to architecture students and graduates. Participation can be a strong point in the portfolio of young designers, as the competition already has a long-standing tradition.
The organisers have prepared prizes with a total value of PLN 50,000, of which the Grand Prix award is PLN 30,000. Special prizes and a paid one-month internship in an architectural office are also planned. The latter award will be available to the winners of the ‘Debut of the Year’ category.
Entriescan be submitted until 31 October 2025 at 12:00 p.m. The projects will be judged by the Competition Jury, as well as by Internet users, who will award their own distinction in an online voting. The Association of Polish Architects, Szczecin Branch, is a partner of the Competition. The whiteMAD magazine is a media patron of the event.
