The Oleandro collection was inspired by the oleander plant, and more specifically by its slender, elongated leaves, which lend it a sense of lightness and elegance. This natural motif has been translated into design language in a subtle yet distinctive way, through the characteristic, gently flattened wooden profile that frames the backs of the chairs, armchairs, stools and beds in the collection. It is this detail that serves as the collection’s visual signature, giving it a recognisable and harmonious character.
The Oleandro collection by Calligaris reflects the philosophy of this renowned Italian brand, where nature meets craftsmanship and modern design. The process of creating each piece begins with respect for the material. Precision in craftsmanship and a thoughtful approach to design ensure that every Calligaris piece of furniture becomes not only a functional object, but also a vessel for the emotions and history of this brand, which has been in existence for over 100 years.
The collection was created by Archirivolto Design,a studio founded in 1983 in Colle di Val d’Elsa, in the province of Siena, by Marco Pocci and Claudio Dondoli. Thanks to a passion for interior design and collaboration with the furniture industry, Archirivolto has developed its own distinctive identity, specialising primarily in the design of seating.
Lightness and character
Oleandro is a cohesive collection that allows for comprehensive space planning. It includes chairs – available in wooden, metal and upholstered versions – designed for maximum comfort thanks to the soft, generous padding of the seats and backrests. Their form is distinguished by a refined detail in the form of a flattened end to the backrest frame, emphasising the inspiration from the aforementioned oleander. The collection also features an armchair that develops the same aesthetic in a more relaxing, enveloping form, offering an even higher level of comfort. The line is complemented by a bar stool, combining visual lightness with comfort, as well as a bed, a key element of the collection, designed with the relaxation area in mind.
A distinctive feature of the Oleandro bed is its enveloping headboard, whose horizontal element ‘embraces’ the upholstery, gently emphasising its softness. The frame is available in a wooden or metal version, harmoniously matched to the legs, which gives the whole piece a refined, very elegant character. Thanks to its form, the bed has also been designed to be placed in the centre of the bedroom, where its sculptural form comes into its own.
