The Palace of Culture hides a modern office on the 27th floor. This is what it looks like

Its interior was designed by INSIDEarch – Kamila Chojnowska, Katarzyna Putka and Karolina Wekko. The modern office was created for a consulting and advisory firm. Its interior was filled with original design, which is a counterbalance to the architecture of the Palace itself. This is a conscious choice by the architects, who did not want to duplicate the aesthetics that have prevailed here for decades.

The Palace of Culture marks the very centre of Warsaw. No wonder that, despite its age, it is still an attractive place for companies renting space in it. One of them is a consulting and advisory firm, whose owner invited a team of female architects he knows well to design the interior. The designers had already worked with him before, creating the interiors of his house near Warsaw.

Working in the historic fabric that is the Palace of Culture and Science was a challenge for the architects. Already at the outset, they were given a list of things that had to remain unchanged. Therefore, in the office space, we can still see the original wooden floor, the colour of the walls is preserved (warm beige) and the hanging lamps, which are a consistent element with the interior architecture of the common areas and link the other rooms of the building.

The main idea was to create an eye-pleasing space that is original and atmospheric. The effect was achieved by selecting the right furniture and accessories. Decorative elements with a craftsman-like character enhance the effect. The latter were made on the basis of original designs.

What is worth paying attention to? The architects point to the DION Lou chairs with swivel function, the Rain Forest Green natural stone table, which was made by a friendly stonemason.

We wanted to combine newly created elements with those with a vintage character, to emphasise the historical spirit with reference to the architecture. Armchairswith dark chocolate-coloured leather upholstery were found on the 1Dibs platform, as was the chair at the desk, say the designers.

The aforementioned desk is decorated with a Flowerpot lamp. Another original light source is a floor lamp in the Memphis Group’s vibe and a rug from the Westwing shop’s range.

The friendly atmosphere is enhanced by the plants present here, which were supplied by Plants for Humans or flowers and dries from Busz Kwiaty i Susz from Warsaw’s Tamka street.

Finally, the art. The painting in the conference table area comes from the office owner’s own collection, while the colour-matched painting in the desk area is the work of Kasia Kotnowska, who brilliantly combines colours and graphic forms on her artworks.
