The pier in Brzeźno opened after renovation. The first one was built in 1900.

The pier in Brzeźno reopened to walkers on 23 December 2025 and, after a major refurbishment, looks refreshed, safer and more visitor-friendly. The investment cost nearly PLN 2.2 million and already attracted crowds of walkers on Christmas Day.

Residents and tourists can already enjoy the refreshed pier. Level planks underfoot, new handrails and benches, and in the evening additional magic is created by the Christmas illuminations standing nearby. The refurbishment, which took several months and was carried out despite storm interruptions, was primarily aimed at improving the safety of the structure, but also the aesthetics and comfort of the pier. The work was completed just before Christmas, bringing the facility into use in time for festive walks.

The scope of work was comprehensive and included both hydro works and an upgrade of the electrical system. The steel piles were cleaned and protected, the sub-frames were reinforced and the wooden deck sheathing was completely replaced – new planks and joists were laid. The metal components under the wooden structure were cleaned of corrosion and protected against corrosion, the handrails were repainted and a new navigation lamp was installed at the end of the pier, improving visibility and safety at night.

The upgrade has also brought tangible improvements for walkers. New steel railings, litter bins, exit ladders from the water and racks for lifesaving equipment have been added to the pier. The so-called grating on the lower deck has been replaced and the power supply system has been upgraded, including the replacement of power lines in conduit and the installation of modern RG-type switchgear. For the comfort of the residents, 20 new benches have been installed and a further 20 are to be installed successively after the opening, making the total number of resting places twice as high as before.

The investment was financed by the Municipality of Gdańsk, supervised by the Gdańsk Sports Centre, and the contractor was Krzysztof Rybakowski Magbud from Miechucin. The renovation, although delayed by weather conditions, was carried out in accordance with the standards for corrosion protection and repair of reinforced concrete, which should extend the life of the structure and reduce the need for frequent repairs in the future.

The pier at Brzeźno has a long history – the first, shorter pier was built here in 1900 and the current structure, built between 1993 and 1996 and opened on 19 July 1996, measures 136 metres long and 7.2 metres wide. There are plans to extend it, which could further strengthen its role as an urban seaside attraction.
