A mere 35-square-metre flat in Poznań’s Jeżyce district is tangible proof that small scale does not exclude conscious design and an atmosphere refined in every detail. The NUUT studio created this interior as an arrangement of interpenetrating micro-spaces, based on the juxtaposition of raw materials with softer finishes and light reflected from mirrors. The result is a composition with a fluid arrangement of functions, where proportions, details and textures play a prominent role.
A flat in Jeżyce – the illusion of more space
The owners needed a separate sleeping area, a living space connected to the kitchen, a roomy dressing room and a bathroom. To avoid the impression of excess, glass dividers and mirrored planes were used to visually expand the corridors and open up perspectives. Doors and walls with transparent and semi-transparent panes create a sense of flow between rooms, allowing light to circulate freely throughout the interior.
Structural plaster, concrete and mirrors in the flat
Immediately upon entering, a wall covered with rough-surfaced plaster is seen juxtaposed with a floor with a concrete pattern. This is contrasted by the warm tones of the wood, the lacquered fronts of the built-ins and the ore lighting fixture. These material clashes gently resonate in the reflections of the large mirrored panel. The rounded corners of the wardrobes direct further into the living area, where a wardrobe giving a capacious storage area is concealed.

Living in Jeżyce: colours and micro features
Shades of grey with a hint of green and maroon accents appear in the kitchen and lounge area. The stone worktop, cream mosaic and compact island create a functional layout for cooking and daily work. A sofa with a coffee table stood next to it, surrounded by shelves for books and ceramics collected by the owner. Textiles, such as the kilim hanging above the sofa, tie the space together in terms of colour, emphasising the softness of this part of the flat.
Modular solutions in the bedroom
The boundary between the living room and bedroom is based on a glass partition with a metal frame. The panes vary in their level of structure and transparency, so that they filter the image without cutting it off completely. The bed is surrounded by built-in furniture with storage space, while rattan fronts and a maroon Flowerpot lamp give this part of the flat an individual identity. A folding desk and an alcove for the dog have also been designed here, highlighting the maximum use of every metre. A patterned pouffe introduces a decorative accent with a distinctive surface.
Small bathroom full of functionality
The bathroom is dominated by the juxtaposition of stone patterns with a brick-red cubby by the bathtub. Its intense colour contrasts with the subdued rest of the composition. A combination of bath and shower, a bidet, a concealed washing machine and a storage unit have been planned here. The entrance leads through a custom-made glass door in a metal frame. This is a discreet detail that emphasises the coherence of the entire design.
