Dhaba Beas, a new vegetarian restaurant in Prague, was designed by Dorota Kluska. The design of the new branch of the vegetarian restaurant chain in Prague’s Karlín can be described as a mix of modern and rustic elements. The aim was to create a comfortable and cosy atmosphere while maintaining the original concept of self-service vegetarian restaurants.
The characteristic arches of the old tenement have been accentuated with warm rust colours, giving the space a unique and pleasant feel. The glossy, dark green tiles on the walls and terrazzo on the floor complete the look. The dark blue ceiling provides a strong contrast and background for the white pendant luminaires made of sandblasted glass, which in turn create a soft and warm lighting effect.
Characteristic design elements are the oak benches with cushions in powder pink. They not only provide comfortable seating, but also provide a visual break from the bold colour accents. Ceramic rustic sconces are positioned to create a warm and intimate atmosphere.
In terms of materials, the architectural team played with textures and contrasts. The roughness of the rough plaster was balanced by the softness of the pink cushions, creating a harmonious balance. Custom-designed furniture was used throughout the space, ensuring that each piece fit perfectly into the overall design concept.
The remodelling of the space involved a major refurbishment including a change in functional layout, replacement of sanitary facilities and finishes. The heating and air-conditioning systems had to be modified and extended to ensure optimum comfort for guests.
The architectural style of the new branch of the Dhaba Beas vegetarian restaurant in Karlín, Prague, successfully combines modern elements with rustic charm to create a comfortable and welcoming space where guests can enjoy vegetarian dishes.
