A new landmark has appeared on the map of Łódź. The White Tenement House at the junction of Zachodnia and Więckowskiego Streets has unveiled its architectural face. The scaffolding has already disappeared from the building, and the façade with its intricate lace-like details is attracting more and more interest from passers-by. Although the investment is still in progress, it can already be said that it will be one of the most recognisable new buildings in the city centre.
Architecture that tells a story
The design of the new building was created in the studio of Robert Sobański, architect and lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. From the outset, it was assumed that the building should not only fit in with the urban landscape, but also refer to the historical buildings in this part of the city. Although this is a new development, the White House draws heavily on Łódź tradition. The seven-storey block has been designed to reproduce the rhythm of the old frontage, with an oriel window and an arcade in the corner, as well as entrances from Zachodnia and Więckowskiego Streets. A communal viewing terrace has been planned for the top floor to provide an additional space to integrate residents.
The architect himself makes no secret of his inspiration from local history:
“The history of this place is simply the history of Łódź, which is an extremely architecturally diverse city. Being in Łódź, it would be a sin not to draw on this richness” – robert Sobański emphasises.

The White Tenement: lace details and a bright façade
What immediately catches the eye is the façade: bright, elegant, full of ornamentation and soft lines. The corner decorative elements, reminiscent of intricate lace, are the work of Visiocom Polska, which developed the detailed design and 3D models based on the architect’s concept.
“We are delighted to have been able to contribute to the creation of such a unique detail that is part of the new architectural landscape of Łódź,” – visiocom Polska representatives emphasise.
Thanks to the use of modern technology, it was possible to create elements that combine tradition and innovation – something that is increasingly becoming a hallmark of contemporary architecture in Łódź.
New life for a degraded space
The location of the investment is not accidental. It is a part of the city that has remained neglected for years. As a result of the redevelopment of Zachodnia Street in the 1960s, the original buildings were demolished, revealing outbuildings that over time fell into disrepair. The White Tenement is set to change this image. The building will comprise 69 high-standard flats and commercial premises on the ground floor. There will also be 43 parking spaces for residents at ground level and in the underground garage hall.
Biała Kamienica: from the foundations to the laces
The foundation stone was laid in 2021 and the actual work started two years later, with the deep excavation for the garage. Today, the building is already in its shell-closed state, with completion scheduled for this autumn.
