The interior of the building was designed by Mateusz Kędziora, owner of Kędziora studio. The architect wanted to create an atmosphere here that would reflect the building’s surroundings. The house in the Karkonosze Mountains is surrounded by greenery and its architecture refers to the historical buildings of the region.
The building is home to Dorota and Wojtek, who live in Wrocław on a daily basis. Wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city, they decided to create an asylum at the foot of the Karkonosze Mountains. The house is almost entirely made of wood. This is an asset that they decided to emphasise inside with the right accessories and colours.
The central part of the house is the living area, which is accessed through large double doors. The kitchen, dining area and lounge area are located here. The interior has been designed so that, during the long, warm days, the residents can feel the energy of spring and summer to the full. In autumn and winter, this part of the building turns into a cosy nook where you can warm up by the warming fireplace. It is the perfect place to relax with a book in hand.
The dining area gives a sense of space. An oak table has been set here. A second piece of furniture like this is set during family parties. The dining area is illuminated by a lamp that hangs from the floor and provides warm light. There is also a coffee table in this area, which was designed by an architect and custom-made.
The kitchen is the heart of every home, which is why we opted for a large island where every member of the household can find a place. The oak worktop blends in perfectly with the sage fronts, and the copper elements of the equipment (hood, lamps) add character to the interior, ” describes Mateusz Kędziora.
An oak staircase leads to the mezzanine, which is finished with a minimalist balustrade. This is where the main bathroom is located, which the architect designed in an eclectic style. The textured tiles used here mask the cuts to the linear drain, so that the large shower area is defined only by the glass. Adequate storage space was achieved by erecting an oak veneer cabinet that conceals multiple drawers and is highly functional thanks to a large countertop with two washbasins. There is also a second bathroom for the owners.
The master bedroom is distinguished by an arched window overlooking a birch forest. The householders can therefore wake up in the morning with a beautiful view of the greenery. The room does not lack a designer addition in the form of two delicate lamps. The result is a tailor-made house.
