They are more than 130 years old. Two bridges over the Beaver River will be renovated

These are the railway bridges over the Beaver River that connect Walbrzych Jelenia Gora. PKP PLK has announced that it will undertake their comprehensive renovation. Several viaducts and eight level crossings will be renovated at the same time.

The investment will be carried out under the KPO and will consume PLN 125 million. The two bridges over the Bóbr River, which are more than 130 years old, are located in the Marciszowska Basin between Sędzisław and Marciszów. They were built of steel. Now the railwaymen will thoroughly renovate the crossings, announcing that they will be strengthened and secured. The work will also include stone abutments and pillars. The announcement of the renovation is welcome, as the structures are currently in a terrible state. The pictures show that the individual elements are covered with a layer of rust. This also affects the permissible speed of trains.

It is not only the bridges over the Beaver that will be renovated. In addition, four stone viaducts in Walbrzych will be renovated. The facilities are located successively at ul: Gdyńska, Moniuszki, 1-go Maja and at the Wałbrzych Fabryczny station. The latter object is worth noting. The viaduct at ul. Stanisława Moniuszki was built in 1860. The works are to make train travel from Jelenia Góra to Wałbrzych and vice versa faster than it is today.

The project “Works on railway line no. 274 on the section Wrocław Świebodzki – Jelenia Góra – works on the route Marciszów – Sędzisław, Wałbrzych Miasto – Wałbrzych Fabryczny and on engineering structures” will be carried out by the PORR company. After the design phase, works are planned for autumn. The estimated completion time of the investment is 26 months.
