They built it near Warsaw. Modern house with a swimming pool

The building is located in Konstancin. Its design was made by Ewa Kaszuba, for whom it was of great importance. This is the first independent realisation in her young career. The magnificent house with a swimming pool has become an oasis of peaceful living. Here, the household members can indulge in relaxation and their hobbies.

The investor couple loves gardening, loves being surrounded by nature and at the same time appreciates the technological developments in the industry. The duo dreamt of a new place that would be their home and fulfil their expectations. They found the perfect plot of land in Konstancin near Warsaw. The town, which was founded in the 19th century, is famous for its villas and lush greenery that intertwines with the architecture.

A house in Konstancin close to nature

A modern interpretation of the town’s villas is to be the new house with a swimming pool. The architect designed the building from two identical, intersecting volumes. The parts are arranged almost as if in a mirror image. On the ground floor of one wing is the living area, in the other she designed a spa area with a swimming pool. The master bedroom and guest rooms are located on the first floor. The two wings connect at a 60-degree angle, creating a half courtyard that encourages interaction between the parts of the building.

As the couple will often be alone in the building, the layout allows for a sense of closeness even when staying at opposite ends of the building,” justifies Ewa Kaszuba.

The semi-courtyard is the heart of the house. It opens up to the south and the private part of the garden. The elevation on this side is reminiscent of a garden veranda. It is richly glazed and made of solid wood. The afternoon sun falls on the wooden columns and causes a pleasant play of light and shadow inside. The façade on the other side of the building is characterised by solid walls, covered with rough plaster. The reduced number of window openings in this section contributes to the residents’ sense of privacy. Each of these walls has only one window. The front elevation, facing the street, only reveals the scale and function of the building through a simple wooden entrance door.

The building has a minimalist form. The effect was achieved by hiding all technical functions and the garage underground. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by a hallway with a floating wooden staircase. Wooden wall and cupboard finishes conceal the doors and passageways to the main spaces of the building. In her design, the architect used natural wood, handmade terrazzo and steel. An interesting feature is the stones uncovered during excavation, which she decided to expose around the building.
