They built it over a pond. We take a look at the house near Bydgoszcz

The house was built in Solec Kujawski near Bydgoszcz. It is a green nook among birch trees, old oaks and with a pond. The investors have been connected to this place for many years, and they invited Dorota Legić of the 4inspo studio to design the new interior.

In total, the building is 140 square metres. The house is characterised by a modern, simple body and is the living space of a young couple. The interior consists of a living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, a study, a bedroom and two guest rooms.

The owners of the building love natural materials, especially wood and furniture made from this raw material. They also wanted the house to be filled with art and stronger accents of colour.

The biggest design challenge was to adopt the colour green as a guiding colour, which would relate to the surroundings, but would not be overpowering or boring. We were also keen to ensure that, despite the use of carved furniture and dark wood, the interior did not feel too heavy. We used materials that will stay with the household for a long time,” admits the designer.

The house near Bydgoszcz is now dominated by a classic style, which is combined with mid-century modern in several places. Many durable materials such as veneer and stone are used here. Elements of old Dutch furniture and paintings from antique shops are combined with Bauhaus tiles on the floor in the kitchen and guest bathroom.

The most important room of the house is the kitchen, where the investors spend time together. A modernist element in the design is the eaves visible from the front of the kitchen. It has been decorated with etched sheet metal, from which deep colours have been brought out.

The bedroom has an interesting look, where we can see accessories with an African theme. These are souvenirs brought back by the investors from their travels.

Particularly noteworthy is the tiled cooker in green. Its small carved tiles were handmade according to the studio’s design. Also noteworthy are the wooden doors to the rooms and the bed headrest, which were brought from Zakopane and treated according to the studio’s design.
