They fuel creative work. Daily rituals with COFFEE PLANT

Some like to start the day by placing a filter in the machine and listening to the freshly brewed coffee drop by drop into the pot. Others prefer to shorten the process and rely on the magic of an automatic machine to prepare a delicious espresso in seconds. The protagonists of this short story are people from the creative industry. Interior designer Angelika Fedorczuk and designer Ania Marciniszyn have made preparing their morning coffee a ritual. Both were invited by the COFFEE PLANT brand to collaborate on its new image campaign. From now on, their daily rituals are accompanied by coffee in brand new packaging.

The art of a good day

For the past five years, COFFEE PLANT has provided its customers with access to speciality coffees from all over the world. It has now decided to present its extensive portfolio in a different way. The new packaging for COFFEE PLANT coffees was created by graphic designer Mateusz Machalski.

The image change was preceded by numerous analyses, meetings of brand expert groups and market research. The innovative idea is to divide all available coffees by the key of how they are prepared. The result is a coherent concept based on three colours: in the orange and red packaging we find the best coffees for pour-over, in the yellow for espresso, and in the pink – capsules. Here a small but important digression. COFFEE PLANT capsules are environmentally friendly. Their complete decomposition takes place within 26 weeks under home compost conditions. Even if the capsule ends up in a sorting plant, it will decompose completely!

Rebranding and new packaging are like a burst of creativity. And the people who know most about creativity are Angelika Fedorczuk, who runs the interior design studio JASNO projekty, and Ania Marciniszyn, who creates ceramic, multicoloured functional objects as part of the Nodi studio.

What is your patent for creating the perfect interior?

I wish I had such a patent! In my opinion, there is no such thing as a perfect interior; you can always add or change something. However, if I were to say what is most important to me in design, I would probably say listening carefully to the needs of the occupants. Combining functionality with a bit of art and design is the coolest recipe for an interior mix.

Do you have a particular style (or maybe several?) that you like to design in?

If the style would be to romanticise interiors, I would consider that to be my style. I look at them sometimes and wonder what they have in common. I hear more and more often that someone likes my distinctive design style, but I don’t quite understand what that means. However, if I were to quote others, it is said that my interiors “tell stories and are very nostalgic”.

And if I ask you about coffee, what is your favourite?

I have a feeling that what I like most is coffee…. i “like” to get dirty! I’m forever pouring it, so I like to have it with me in large quantities. I’m not a coffee drinker who drinks black coffee, I always pour it over a vegetable drink and sometimes spice it up with cinnamon. I treat coffee as my daily drink. It is also part of my morning routine. When I get up, I put on some quiet music and prepare a pot of coffee, then I can be sure that I won’t run out for the day, even if some of it ends up on my T-shirt or the floor.

A mix of styles, a mix of flavours…. What notes in a cup of coffee give you the most pleasure?

As it is with blends, I like to combine different flavours, and so far the one that suits me best is Flow Very Berry COFFEE PLANT, which is both sweet and fruity, so perfect.

Ania Marciniszyn – Nodi Studio

You create colourful objects full of energy. Where do you look for ideas for their forms and colours?

I draw inspiration really from everything that surrounds me. Especially from architecture, different textures or colour combinations I come across, which unexpectedly unlock something in my mind. When starting the creative process, I don’t think about whether something will be feasible in porcelain, I focus on experimenting with shape and pushing my own boundaries. For example, this is how the Vogue Beauty Awards statuettes were created – until I took the finished object out of the kiln, I wasn’t sure if porcelain, which is a very difficult material, would ”withstand” the form. On the one hand, this gives me a lot of stress, but the satisfaction is even greater.

What is Nodi Studio to you?

Nodi Studio is both the place through which I fulfil myself as an artist, but also the most challenging venture I have ever undertaken. Combining your passion with your own business is a difficult path when you are putting everything up from scratch. It costs me physically and mentally a lot.

Now I can slowly feel Nodi taking on my dream shape. It’s no longer just mugs, I’ve introduced porcelain lamps, furniture and I can see that this is the direction that plays in my soul the most. And this is only the beginning of my journey.

Does coffee taste better in a handmade mug?

Certainly; whenever I test out some new colours they come to my house first, for my morning coffee; but I also like to surround myself with other people’s ceramics because it’s like an actor just watching films with himself. What I like most is to bring back mugs from overseas trips from artists I observe, or to find gems at antique fairs. Then I feel that drinking coffee from them is more special.

What type of coffee do you like best?

I really like coffees with notes of forest fruits, blackcurrant, raspberry. A recent favourite of mine on the go is also a brownie transfer.

Searching for the tastiest coffee is now definitely easier thanks to clear packaging. Minimalist labels bring information about what is most important – the content – to the fore. In addition to the name of the coffee, the label provides information on the country of origin, processing and variety. Even if you are not a coffee specialist, it is worth taking part in this fun. The labels include information about the flavour notes that can be perceived in the variety. For example, Juicy Fruit coffee has perceptible notes of citrus, acacia, peach and apricot. Smooth Sweet, on the other hand, has flavours of honey, strawberry and milk chocolate on the tongue. The Honduras Marcala coffee, on the other hand, is characterised by a delicate nutty note. So how, which coffee do you choose? You can order coffee from COFFEE PLANT and accessories for its preparation from their online shop or specialty coffee places.

It’s not over yet! Other creatives told us more about their creative activities and collaboration with COFFEE PLANT. Mateusz Machalski and Rafał Mgłosiek spoke to us HERE, and Zuza Badowska and Koka Skowronska told us about their work HERE.
