Jaworek Park in Tychy is a new playground that offers an attractive space for relaxation. The place is very popular with residents especially in summer, when the water attractions are in operation. The water and natural playground in Jaworek Park was designed by architects from the RS Robert Skitek studio.
The playground was built in 2024 on a plot of land in Jaworek Park. It combines the natural landscape with modern recreational solutions. The existing area was undeveloped, surrounded by alleys and small trees, and in winter the residents of the nearby buildings enjoyed using the toboggan hill.
We divided the area into two zones: a water playground and a natural playground, using the existing footpaths. The water playground is located in a basin surrounded by hills that reflect the shape of the nearby toboggan hill. The hills create a natural protection of the nearby buildings from the noise of playing children,” explains architect Robert Skitek.
By placing the main play area in the hollow, the whole complex is somewhat hidden from ground level. This is the zone of water attractions, around which the architects have placed wooden seats. The benches mark out the space for water play and at the same time provide a place for children and carers to rest. A bridge has been suspended over the basin, which serves as a communication and viewing point.
The architects also dealt with the problem of placing a technical building to service the water facilities. It has been discreetly integrated into one of the slopes.
On the other side of the plot, a natural playground was created with elements made mainly of wood, wicker, gravel, sand and jute rope. There is a play equipment and educational elements made of natural materials.
Residents can stroll along winding alleys amidst carefully designed greenery. The whole is complemented by rain gardens, supporting the natural water cycle and ensuring an increase in biodiversity.
