The Austrian Loxone Campus complex is a whole world of real estate enclosed in a single building. It houses offices, a hotel, a restaurant, a conference centre, an auditorium and a logistics centre. Everything is combined into a single whole with technology, ecology and nature. It responds to every trend in construction, from caring for nature to focusing on human comfort and health.
It is hard to believe that all these functions and solutions have been combined in one place. The entire investment is backed by Loxone, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of comprehensive building management solutions. The company’s philosophy is to manage everything from a single miniserver: lighting, heating and building security. However, the company’s mission is not only focused on innovation and energy efficiency. People are important throughout the entire process, and this is precisely what the complex, located on 8 hectares of green space, reflects. “The Loxone Campus combines state-of-the-art building automation with the natural beauty of the Mühlviertel region, creating a harmonious balance between technology, nature and an inspiring atmosphere,” explains Rüdiger Keinberger, CEO of Loxone ( ). The investment is worth €70 million.
Work and relax, nature will be your guide
The Mühlviertel region, located in northern Austria on the border with the Czech Republic, is known for its gentle granite hills, dense forests, clear streams and strong tradition of brewing and craftsmanship. It is a haven of unspoilt nature and a place where people’s work is far removed from the urban corporate rat race.
Located in this region, the Loxone Campus was created not only for the company’s employees. There is a hotel, conference centre and restaurant on site. Guests and external companies can also relax and work here.
The large green area around the campus, panoramic views and space meet the expectations of today’s hotel guests seeking a break from the pace of city life. The same trend has been developing in business for several years. Companies looking for venues to organise large conferences or smaller meetings combine work with leisure. The fashionable slogan of work-life balance, introduced to the market by Generation Z, is slowly giving way to an even broader trend. It is no longer about separating work and private life, but about combining the two, with the participation of the family. The phenomenon of workation is becoming a permanent feature of the business world. Its power is understood by companies, hotels and the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) sector alike.

At Loxone Campus, you can organise a seminar for up to 600 people, as this is the capacity of the largest auditorium in the complex. Satisfaction with the meeting will not only result from its content. The well-being of the participants is influenced by what is outside the window and what is inside the building. Throughout the lectures, the view behind the glass wall of the auditorium – the soothing greenery of trees and hills – helps to promote concentration and calm.
But even nature cannot achieve complete comfort without the right solutions in the building itself. That is why the investor, designers from Architekturbüro ARKFORM and Urmann Trockenbau GmbH, responsible for the interior installations, decided to install Knauf Ceiling Solutions acoustic ceilings. “Our Heradesign panels have been installed across the entire surface of the ceilings in the auditorium and SPA area. They are sustainable because they are made of wood wool, and at the same time they allow for perfect acoustic adjustment. They absorb reflected sounds, so users of the room are not exposed to noise and reverberation and can clearly understand the words spoken during conferences,” explains Tomasz Krajewski, Wood Wool Specification Manager at Knauf Ceiling Solutions.
The colour scheme of the ceilings is precisely matched to the walls, floors and furniture. The natural shade of wood blends in with nature “entering” the auditorium from the green areas around the campus. Even the lighting refers to nature. The lighting points located in the ceiling panels, when dimmed for conferences, give the impression of sitting under a starry sky.
The tranquillity is not interrupted by any garish colours. Wood, subdued colours and atmospheric lighting also dominate the hotel and restaurant areas. The hotel has over 80 rooms, and the Glorious Bastards restaurant is ready to serve up to 300 people.

Participants in business meetings or training courses at the European centre for innovation and building automation, Loxone Campus, can therefore put the idea of a workation into practice and stay for a holiday with their families. They also have access to an indoor infinity pool overlooking a green, flat park and hills on the horizon, as well as a wellness centre with eco saunas and fitness rooms. In the relaxation area, you can simply laze around and unwind. The relaxation areas are equipped with spotlights, so you can also relax with a book.
Success thanks to greenery or technology?
The entire mixed-use complex combines a hotel, offices for 300 people, and 6,000 m² of warehouse space. There are few properties in Europe that truly combine all these functions in a single investment. After all, each market sector has different technical requirements: hotels are managed differently than logistics facilities. The Austrian campus has managed to bring this all together, thanks to the innovation of Loxone. All wings of the buildings are managed by a single system.
However, technology is not the only common denominator; respect for the environment is another. The building blends in with its natural surroundings. As much as 78% of the entire roof area is a so-called green roof, on which 1,000 trees and shrubs have been planted, energy is supported by a 600 kWp photovoltaic system, and 50 Loxone Wallbox charging stations for electric cars have been installed in the car park. The company reports that thanks to the system, energy savings amount to as much as 40% compared to conventionally controlled buildings. No wonder, then, that the interiors also feature some of the most environmentally friendly ceilings in the world – Heradesign panels are made from 100% natural materials and are recyclable, as confirmed by the product’s environmental declarations, i.e. EPD (Environmental Product Declaration). Those installed at the Loxone Campus in their natural colour also have Cradle to Cradle eco-certification.
We feel strongly connected to the idea behind the design of the Loxone Campus, because sustainable development is also our goal. In terms of decarbonisation, the Knauf Group has been working for years to reduce CO2 emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 50% and Scope 3 by 30% by 2032. We plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, says Tomasz Krajewski, Wood Wool Specification Manager at Knauf Ceiling Solutions.
