Thousands of new plantings on the streets of the capital. Warsaw gardeners have started work

The Warsaw Greenery Management Board has inaugurated autumn tree plantings that will bring a touch of nature to the urban landscape. In the near future, over 2,000 new trees, as well as hundreds of thousands of perennials and shrubs will be planted in the capital’s lanes, parks, squares and green areas. This undertaking will not only improve the aesthetics of Warsaw, but will also have a positive impact on its microclimate.

Preparatory work is already underway in many locations in Warsaw. City gardeners are carefully preparing the land for the new plantings, an essential step in this ecological process. The work first involves weeding and clearing the ground of stones, branches and rubbish. The ground is then dug up, allowing the new plants to take proper root and providing them with access to water and air.

Within the framework of projects from the civic budget and other investments, the Greenery Board plans to plant not only trees, but also nearly 950 thousand flower bulbs. In addition, there will be more than 118,000 new perennials covering an area of about 13,000 square metres and 83,000 shrubs covering an area of about 2,000 square metres. These new plantings will not only enliven public spaces, but also contribute to biodiversity in the city.

In particular, a lot of new greenery can be expected in the linear park under construction above the ring road in Ursynów, where 330 trees and 3,500 shrubs are planned to be planted. Skaryszewski Park will gain as many as 100 new trees, and many new plants will also appear in squares and parks in Mokotów and Wola. In the road lanes, most trees will be planted in Modlińska Street, Światowida Street in Białołęka and Przyczółkowa Street in Wilanów.
