Three new skyscrapers will be built in Katowice. The city centre is about to undergo major changes

In the very centre of Katowice, in the quarter of Sokolska, Skargi and Słowackiego streets, a new development called MIKATO is under construction. The project, developed by the renowned Medusa Group, is a complex of three residential towers that will be connected by a common ground floor, open and accessible to residents and passers-by. The development will comprise 341 flats of varying sizes, from studios to four-room flats. The designers have ensured that the interiors provide exceptional comfort and allow visitors to enjoy magnificent views of the city skyline.

MIKATO’s architecture draws on Katowice’s famous buildings, such as the Superjednostka, as well as modernist icons, including Le Corbusier’s Marseille building. The towers, ranging from 12 to 18 storeys, are distinguished by their simple form and high functionality. The interiors of the buildings, the open plan and the ‘needles’ characteristic of modernism, known from Katowice’s Superjednostka, give the development a unique style and respect for Katowice’s architectural heritage.

Modern smart home technologies are another asset of the MIKATO development. Residents will be able to manage their flat via an app that will enable remote opening of gates, doors and control of lighting and temperature in the flats. Security systems with advanced sensors will make the estate safe and comfortable for residents.

With active residents in mind, full facilities for cyclists have been planned, with spaces for over 300 bicycles, racks and hangers on the ground floor of the building. Car traffic in the development will be kept to a minimum, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to use the space freely. For motorists, there will be underground parking on two levels, offering 150 parking spaces.

The open space on the ground floor of the building and the service units will make it easier for residents to access retail and catering outlets. In addition, the greenery surrounding the development, low shrubs and numerous seating areas will provide a place to relax outdoors. The proximity of the Friends of Miskolc square and easy access to green areas are additional advantages of MIKATO’s location.

The MIKATO project is a response to the needs of modern residents, which fits perfectly into the concept of the 15-minute city – a place where everything important is within easy reach.
